EveryLife Foundation Announces 2025 Scholarship Recipients
The EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases is excited to announce the recipients of its 2025 #RAREis Scholarship Fund, marking a significant milestone for students living with rare diseases. In partnership with Amgen, this innovative program has been instrumental in supporting students as they pursue their academic goals. This year alone, the initiative has awarded 104 scholarships, contributing to a total of over $2.45 million since its inception.
Now in its sixth year, the scholarship program continues to gain momentum, with more than 2,000 applications submitted—a growth of nearly 20% compared to last year's cycle. Recipients hail from 35 states and are enrolled in over 90 colleges and universities across the country.
Living with a rare disease can pose numerous challenges, particularly when it comes to financing education. Michael Pearlmutter, CEO of the EveryLife Foundation, emphasized the importance of this scholarship: "Living with a rare disease presents extensive challenges, including financial burdens that may make continuing education difficult for students. The #RAREis Scholarship Fund was created with Amgen to help level the playing field by ensuring students have the financial support they need to thrive academically and personally."
In addition to financial assistance, the #RAREis Scholarship Fund provides vital mentorship opportunities. Stephanie Riordan, Senior Director of Patient Programs at the EveryLife Foundation, noted that the foundation has broadened the scope of support. Students now have access to group calls tailored to their fields of study, as well as resources that help them address the unique challenges faced by rare disease patients, such as transitioning from pediatric to adult healthcare and advocating for accessibility on campus. Furthermore, the initiative is committed to building a robust network of scholarship alumni that fosters peer support and advocacy for the rare disease community.
The impact of this scholarship extends far beyond financial relief. Isabella Duarte-Crespo, a 2025 awardee living with Spina Bifida, remarked, "Living with a rare disease has shaped how I think about problem-solving and community support. The scholarship has not only lifted financial burdens but has also encouraged me to keep advocating for inclusive spaces."
Those interested in applying for future scholarships can stay informed by signing up for the EveryLife Foundation's monthly Rare Report or following the organization on social media. The 2026 scholarship cycle is expected to open soon, providing more opportunities for students in need.
In summary, the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases continues to be a trailblazer in advocating for students living with rare conditions. By empowering them through educational funding and community support, the foundation is making significant strides toward ensuring that these individuals can achieve their academic aspirations and, in turn, contribute meaningfully to society.
