On December 4th and 5th, 2025, the major pain-related academic conference, JAPAN PAIN WEEK, took place at Tokyo Big Sight. This event marked the joint conference of the 47th Japanese Pain Society, the 18th Japanese Musculoskeletal Pain Society, the 29th Japanese Pain Rehabilitation Society, and the 30th Japanese Oral and Facial Pain Society. Representing our research team, Sohei Kata, a director at Rigakubody, took the stage.
The core of the presentation was based on extensive clinical research derived from the data we have accumulated over the years, which notably earned us the Encouragement Award after competing with five selected exemplary presentations. The data highlighted the psychological and social stratification of individuals utilizing non-insured services, demonstrating a significant gap in healthcare.
Despite over half of our service users suffering from persistent pain, many of them do not seek medical attention, revealing a concerning phenomenon known as the 'undiagnosed threshold,' where these individuals believe that visiting doctors would yield no improvements in their conditions. This insight led us to propose a new medical collaboration structure that focuses on identifying significant warning signs based on concrete evidence, allowing for swift referrals to physicians rather than relying solely on sensory experiences.
Our findings were well-received among medical practitioners and researchers alike, who acknowledged the necessity of such research in today’s healthcare landscape. The discussion emphasized the unique capabilities of non-insured services in addressing gaps in community healthcare.
The primary message our team wanted to convey through this presentation is the significance of non-insured services in reaching vulnerable groups. Since our establishment, Rigakubody has transcended beyond conventional bodywork service providers. We aim to be a professional group that bridges the gaps in community healthcare through scientifically-grounded approaches and appropriate collaborations with medical institutions.
We are committed to not only providing immediate support to our clients but also contributing to the advancement of the industry through rigorous academic research and presentations aimed at elevating the profession of therapists and reinforcing their social standing.
Additionally, we are actively seeking skilled therapists who wish to advance their expertise and make a meaningful impact in society through collaborative academic research and data analysis.
