Clear Channel Outdoor Takes the Lead at Pensacola International Airport
Clear Channel Outdoor (CCO) has recently been appointed as the new advertising partner for Pensacola International Airport (PNS), marking a significant development in the airport's advertising strategy. With over 3.1 million passengers traveling through PNS annually, this new partnership aims to enhance the airport's advertising landscape while providing advanced opportunities for brands to connect directly with travelers.
A Major Shift in Airport Advertising
After a competitive selection process, Clear Channel Outdoor was chosen to lead the advertising program which has been managed internally since 2018. Prior to that, CCO was the airport's advertising concessionaire until 2012 and is now making a significant return with plans for substantial investments in both infrastructure and new sponsorship options. This initiative aligns seamlessly with PNS's broader goal to innovate and modernize as it continues to grow as a vital commercial gateway in the Gulf Coast region.
Morten Gotterup, President of Clear Channel Outdoor's Airports Division, commented on this significant opportunity, stating, "Pensacola International Airport is experiencing remarkable growth, and we're proud to partner with the airport at such a pivotal moment in its development. This agreement enables us to bring a new level of innovation to the airport environment, creating high-impact opportunities for brands to engage travelers while enhancing the overall experience for the millions of passengers who move through PNS each year."
Enhancing the Passenger Experience
The partnership promises to transform the passenger experience by introducing a range of technology-driven advertising formats across high-traffic areas of the airport. Key elements of the new advertising program include:
- - Branded LED Video Walls: Located at entryways, security checkpoints, and baggage claim, these large-format digital displays aim to offer impactful brand storytelling throughout the airport journey.
- - Digital Concourse Advertising Network: A connected network of screens that will engage travelers as they navigate between gates, dining, and retail locations.
- - Reimagined Branded Environments: Innovative media opportunities that will reshape key terminal spaces to create memorable brand experiences while preserving the airport’s unique identity.
- - New Sponsorship Formats: Including corner tension fabric displays for optimal visibility and charging station sponsorships that will engage passengers during their dwell times.
Investment in Future Growth
Pensacola International Airport stands as the most active airport along the I-10 corridor, bridging Jacksonville and New Orleans, catering to a diverse array of business, leisure, and military travelers. The airport currently offers nonstop services to 28 destinations through major carriers such as American, Delta, United, and Southwest.
This new advertising initiative is part of a larger capital investment strategy that also includes a $165 million expansion of the terminal and a new concourse, anticipated to complete by mid-2028, adding five gates to the existing twelve. Matt Coughlin, Executive Director of PNS, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, "Clear Channel Outdoor shares our vision by bringing innovative, technology-driven advertising solutions that will elevate the passenger experience while creating meaningful opportunities for businesses to connect with millions of travelers each year."
As CCO embarks on this modernization of PNS's advertising landscape, they are committed to supporting long-term growth and investment in the aviation sector while enhancing the overall travel experience for every passenger at Pensacola International Airport.
