Major Order from BOC Aviation for Pratt & Whitney Engines

At the recent Farnborough International Airshow, BOC Aviation Limited revealed a substantial commitment to aircraft engine technology by placing an order for up to 220 Pratt & Whitney GTF™ engines. This significant deal, which will power an equal number of Airbus A320neo family aircraft, mirrors the importance of engine efficiency and environmental consciousness in today's aviation industry. 

According to Rick Deurloo, the president of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, this order underscores BOC Aviation's confidence in the GTF engine, which has gained recognition as the most fuel-efficient option for single-aisle aircraft. The enduring relationship between BOC Aviation and Pratt & Whitney will further enhance their operations to meet the rising demands of airlines across the globe.

Steven Townend, the Chief Executive Officer of BOC Aviation, pointed out that this marks the largest purchase of engines the company has made from Pratt & Whitney, reaffirming a partnership that has flourished for 29 years. Townend emphasized that the GTF engines are pivotal in reducing fuel costs, integral to the future efficiency of their aviation fleet.

The GTF engine offers remarkable advantages: a 20% decrease in fuel consumption and a 75% reduction in noise levels in comparison to previous engine generations. Currently, over 2,800 GTF-powered aircraft are in operation globally, served by a diverse clientele of more than 90 customers. The ever-expanding order backlog of over 8,000 GTF engines illustrates a robust market demand, underscoring the success of its innovative geared architecture. This design is an essential platform for next-generation technologies that contribute to sustainable aviation.

It's noteworthy to mention that this order was initially signed in June 2025 as an undisclosed deal, indicating BOC Aviation's strategic planning and foresight in anticipating market growth and aircraft demands.
