In a historic event held in New York during March 2025, the Asian Women Development Plan International (AWDPI) received high honors at the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69). The organization was awarded the prestigious Global Outstanding Women's Public Welfare Organization Award, while AWDPI Board Member, Ms. Stephanie Sun, was honored with the Asian Outstanding Female Leadership Award. These accolades not only recognize the organization's impactful work in advocating for gender equality but also emphasize the growing influence of Asian women in public service worldwide.
A Journey of Five Years: Transforming the Lives of Asian Women
Founded in 2020 by Ms. Yimar Yu, AWDPI emerged from its initial program aimed at combating violence against overseas Chinese women. Over the past five years, the organization has cultivated a strong global presence, establishing offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, and Australia. By partnering with the UN, government entities, academia, and private sectors, AWDPI has provided direct assistance to thousands of Asian women across more than 30 countries.
AWDPI's flagship initiatives, including the Anti-Domestic Violence Support System, have become recognized globally as leading models of innovation in gender advocacy, proving that systemic change is possible through targeted action and international cooperation.
