NCMEC and GSTV Launch National Campaign to Find Missing Baby Kevin

On July 1, 2025, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) partnered with GSTV to initiate a nationwide initiative aimed at locating Kevin Verville Jr., who was abducted as an infant from Oceanside, California, in 1980. This campaign, which runs throughout July, features newly created progressive age-enhanced images of Kevin, produced by a forensic artist from NCMEC, aiming to give the public a clearer idea of what he might look like today.

The Urgency of Reaching Out

GSTV, a leading digital video network viewed in over 29,000 fuel retail locations across 49 states, recognized the critical need to engage a wide national audience. The network is generously donating screen time to broadcast Kevin's story throughout July, a collaborative effort that enhances the likelihood of someone recognizing him and providing vital information about his whereabouts.

Kevin was taken on July 1, 1980, when investigators reported that an unidentified woman approached Kevin's family near a non-base military housing unit close to Camp Pendleton. This woman, who identified herself as “Sheila” and claimed to belong to an organization that helps young military families, convinced Kevin's mother to accompany her, effectively persuading her to exit the vehicle. During this encounter, the mystery woman abducted baby Kevin, who was only 17 days old at the time.

A Heart-Wrenching Journey

The ongoing efforts to locate Kevin are not just a matter of protocol; they are a mission to alleviate the 45 years of unimaginable anguish his family has endured, feeling as though his case was forgotten. Angeline Hartmann, Communications Director at NCMEC, expressed hope that the renewed national interest might finally provide the answers they’ve long sought. She stated, “We believe Kevin is still out there, possibly living under a different name, unaware of his abduction as a child.” Hence, reaching as many people as possible is critical.

Since 2019, NCMEC and GSTV have collaborated to display cases of missing children nationwide. Beyond this national initiative, GSTV provides space monthly on its network in 25 states to showcase missing children's cases, significantly amplifying their visibility.

Violeta Ivezaj, Senior Vice President of Business Operations at GSTV, described the heart-wrenching reality that families face when their children go missing. “It’s truly heartbreaking not to know what has happened to your child. We have seen the power of GSTV collaborating with NCMEC in reuniting missing children in individual states and markets, and we hope that the national focus on Kevin's case helps bring some solutions to his family.”

This campaign highlights the importance of community engagement in resolving such cases and emphasizes that anyone with information about Kevin’s whereabouts should reach out to NCMEC at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).
