Bulat Utemuratov Foundation Invests 460 Million Tenge in Almaty's Gas Development Project
In a significant move towards improving urban infrastructure and air quality in Almaty, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation has announced an allotment of 460 million Tenge (approximately 1 million USD) for the enhancement of gas supply to private residences in the city. This initiative is implemented in collaboration with the Almaty Akimat (City Administration) and seeks to facilitate the transition from coal to gas heating in private homes, thereby reducing emissions and improving the environmental situation in one of Kazakhstan's major cities.
The gasification project will begin with a comprehensive assessment of private residential buildings in Almaty by the city administration. This assessment aims to identify the specific needs of residents regarding the gas connection process, providing thorough support from consultations to actual installations. Qualified contractors will then conduct the necessary construction and installation work to ensure proper access to gas supplies.
Darkhan Satybaldy, the Mayor of Almaty, emphasized the continuation of targeted efforts to connect households to the urban gas supply network. He mentioned, "The requirements may vary from case to case, and hence it is crucial to support residents comprehensively—from consultations to actual connections. Thanks to the assistance of socially responsible companies, we can expand this initiative to reach more households."
The switch from coal to natural gas heating is a crucial step towards improving air quality in Almaty, particularly during the heating season when the use of solid fuels in homes remains a significant source of pollution. "By extending gas supply to the private sector, families that are not yet connected to the gas supply network can transition to a modern heating system.
