Empowering Young Girls: The PLAN GIRLS MOVEMENT 2025
On October 8, 2025, PLAN International, a prominent international NGO based in Setagaya, Tokyo, will host the event "PLAN GIRLS MOVEMENT 2025 ~Words that Become Power for the Future~" in advance of the International Day of the Girl on October 11. This event aims to promote leadership skills among girls and tackle significant gender issues.
Addressing Feelings of Anxiety among Young Women
Recent research conducted by PLAN found that roughly two-thirds of young women aged 18 to 25 experience a sense of vague anxiety, impatience, and depression. Facing rapid lifestyle changes related to employment, career, marriage, and childbirth, many young women find themselves in unstable circumstances that mirror the uncertainty defined by the term "VUCA age" (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity).
This survey highlighted the struggles young women face and the urgent need for support and empowerment.
The Power of Words in Alleviating Anxieties
Around 60% of the respondents who reported feeling anxious cited moments where uplifting words or encouragement helped alleviate their feelings. They noted significant experiences of relief when they encountered positive affirmations or meaningful advice. This suggests that the right words can serve as a powerful tool in reducing feelings of uncertainty and inadequacy among young females.
