MainStreet Bank Spreads Joy this Holiday Season to Local Animals
As the holiday season unfolds, MainStreet Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: MNSB & MNSBP) is bringing joy not just to its clients but also to local animals in need. The bank’s community action initiative, known as
Making Change, empowers employees to give back, particularly this season of giving.
In an effort to positively impact the lives of our furry friends, MainStreet Bank coordinated volunteer events at local animal shelters in Fairfax, Virginia. With a corporate philosophy centered around community engagement and support, the bank encourages employee involvement in philanthropic activities while fostering a culture of giving.
Giving Back through Making Change
Launched in the spring of 2023, the
Making Change program allows every employee at MainStreet Bank to allocate up to $1,000 annually to assist local charitable organizations that resonate with their values. This innovative approach means that even smaller, often overlooked organizations receive essential support, especially around the holidays when the need is at its peak.
As part of this program, employees recently participated in two volunteer events at prominent animal rescue organizations, emphasizing their commitment to animal welfare. They also contributed a significant donation of $11,000 to
Friends of Homeless Animals, a no-kill shelter located in Aldie, Virginia. This vital funding helps support the shelter's extensive operational needs, including animal care and sustenance for the residents.
Jeff Dick, Chairman and CEO of MainStreet Bancshares, commented on the program, stating, "Making Change goes beyond traditional corporate giving by empowering our employees to be the philanthropists. This grassroots approach reflects our commitment to personalized service and community involvement."
Making a Difference
The shelter in Aldie serves as a haven for vulnerable cats and dogs, providing them with lifelong care and love. The energetic team of MainStreet Bank employees didn’t merely stop at financial contributions; many participated in group donations, significantly easing the pet food budget for the shelter. The partnership with both
Friends of Homeless Animals and
Homeward Trails Animal Rescue reinforces a shared mission of ensuring that every animal awaits the warmth and comfort of a loving home, particularly during festive times.
Throughout 2023, the
Making Change program has raised a total of
$27,000 to support local animal organizations, including:
- - Animal Welfare League of Alexandria
- - Bobbie's Pit Bull Rescue and Sanctuary
- - Paws of Honor
- - Among others.
Community Spirit and Employee Engagement
"Our employees genuinely appreciate the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of these animals," said Trish Smith, the Chief Human Resources Officer at MainStreet Bank. Through
Making Change, employees can effortlessly align their values with impactful giving, which spans across various community needs and animal welfare initiatives.
The results of this program serve as a testament to the level of community spirit fostered at MainStreet Bank. With each contribution and act of service, the bank reflects its dedication to creating a better world for both its customers and its community members.
Looking Forward
As MainStreet Bank continues to engage in socially responsible initiatives that resonate with their workforce, they pave the way for a sustainable model in community banking that prioritizes meaningful relationships over mere transactions. Their forward-thinking
Banking-as-a-Service strategy has allowed them to enhance online and mobile banking solutions, further streamlining and expanding their outreach to new community sectors.
This holiday season, with action-driven programs such as
Making Change, MainStreet Bank is steering away from conventional corporate philanthropy towards a more inclusive approach—one that fosters goodwill, enhances community ties, and ensures that all members of the community, including the furriest residents, receive the care and attention they deserve.
