In a remarkable gathering in Burgas, Bulgaria, nearly 300 energy professionals came together for an enlightening conference, spearheaded by Sigenergy. The primary focus of the event was the unveiling of a groundbreaking 20MWh modular energy storage solution. A Step Towards Sustainable Energy
Sigenergy's modular system, a result of collaboration with leading Bulgarian solar company Trakia MT Ltd., is integrated within a solar power plant, consisting of 90 hybrid inverters tailored for commercial and industrial use. This system brings to life SigenStack, a modular energy storage solution that offers scalability and practicality, crucial for businesses aiming for decarbonization and operational growth.

The Power of Modularity
SigenStack is designed to replace bulky container systems with stackable 12kWh battery modules. This modular approach simplifies installation—eliminating complex wiring and the need for cranes or heavy machinery. Remarkably, the installation of the entire 20MWh system was completed in just ten days, with operational readiness achieved within two days. Galina Peycheva-Miteva, owner of Trakia MT Ltd., noted, “The installation was exceptionally smooth, resembling assembling building blocks rather than establishing industrial infrastructure. This modular system changes the game for energy storage in commercial and industrial applications.”
Putting Safety First
Sigenergy's commercial and industrial battery energy storage systems (CI BESS) set new safety benchmarks. The SigenStack is engineered with a focus on safety down to the last detail. Each 12kWh module incorporates six layers of thermal protection, including integrated extinguishing units, aerogel insulation, decompression valves, and smoke detectors. This configuration allows for the early detection of thermal instability at the module level, prompting swift, localized responses.
In contrast, traditional systems often lack dedicated compartments, resulting in slower reaction times that can exceed one minute, raising fire spread risks. By isolating potential incidents at the module level, SigenStack greatly enhances system reliability and operational safety. Its advanced inverter technology offers extremely rapid reverse flow protection, reacting within 500 ms, alongside long-range Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) technology that detects faults from a distance of up to 500 meters.
Proven Reliability and Maintenace-free Operation
Thanks to its robust safety solutions and modular design, Sigenergy's CI BESS operates autonomously 24/7. The IP66 rating guarantees resistance to dust and water, ensuring reliability even in harsh environmental conditions. Conversely, conventional systems require more sensitive components, monthly checks, biannual part replacements, and extensive annual maintenance.
The system enables real-time cloud monitoring, providing comprehensive insights into device status, energy flow, and alerts, significantly reducing onsite physical inspections. Moreover, faulty battery modules can be replaced individually within two hours, minimizing downtime and simplifying spare parts logistics while lowering operational costs.
