Team Novo Nordisk Unveils Talented Development Roster for 2026 Season

Team Novo Nordisk Develops Future Talent for 2026 Season

Team Novo Nordisk has officially announced its Development Team roster for the 2026 cycling season. The team, known for being the world’s first all-diabetes professional cycling team, is emphasizing youth as it fields ten riders from eight different countries. The new roster includes seven fresh faces and boasts an average age of just 20. This strategic choice underlines the team's commitment to nurturing the next generation of cyclists.

Following the successful Talent ID camp held in Tuscany, the Development Team has identified promising candidates, marking this as one of the most outstanding line-ups in the team's history. The inclusion of seven new riders speaks volumes about the team's ability to attract and develop young talent.

Daniel Holt, the General Manager of the Development Team, shared his insights, emphasizing the importance of expanding the talent pipeline. He remarked, “We don't want to rush and assume everyone will make it to the pro team, but seeing so many young athletes with strong potential is inspiring. The candidates we evaluated were not only enthusiastic but also experienced for their age.”

The outreach efforts of Team Novo Nordisk within the diabetes community have fostered a sense of belonging among aspiring athletes for years. Many of the new riders have been aware of the team long before reaching the necessary age to participate in physical camps, which increases their eagerness during try-outs. Holt acknowledged this shift, stating, “The riders seem more willing to engage and take risks compared to previous years, which is incredibly encouraging.”

Transitioning to a nearly new squad presents its own challenges, especially when young talents from various backgrounds come together. However, Holt and the development staff welcome this task, armed with substantial experience that can assist the newcomers.

“The Devo team of 2025 set a high standard with their camaraderie, treating one another like family. Replicating that may take time, but fortunately, most of the new riders got acquainted at the Talent ID Camp, forming a bond that will enable them to work cohesively.”

Holt’s optimism about the future is palpable. He reflects on previous experiences and how they can guide new athletes. January will mark the start of a new training phase, and he is eager to see how the young squad will form their own identity.
