On March 31, 2026, Operation Homefront proudly announced the seven outstanding recipients of the 2026 Military Child of the Year® Award. Recognized for their exemplary character, vibrant community service, and impressive leadership, these teens were selected from over 1,000 nominees, showcasing their significant achievements despite the unique challenges posed by military life. This esteemed accolade has been honoring military-connected children for 18 years and highlights the extraordinary impact these young individuals have in shaping their families and communities.
The recipients, each representing a branch of the armed forces, embody resilience and commitment amidst frequent relocations, parental deployments, and life transitions. Their inspiring stories, while unique, share a common thread of perseverance. Rear Admiral (ret) Alan Reyes, CEO of Operation Homefront, emphasized the importance of recognizing military children, stating, "At Operation Homefront, we are committed to ensuring every military family member feels valued and empowered. The Military Child of the Year® Award is a testament to young individuals who transform unique challenges into leadership opportunities."
This year’s awardees not only managed to adapt to a total of 35 relocations but also endured 255 months of parental deployments.
