Toyota Celebrates the Milestone of Selling Its 8 Millionth Certified Used Vehicle

Toyota Marks a Historic Achievement

In a significant milestone for the automotive industry, Toyota has successfully celebrated the sale of its 8 millionth Certified Used Vehicle (TCUV) in the United States. This outstanding achievement was highlighted during an event at Sheehy Toyota of Laurel, Maryland, where a brand new 2024 Toyota Camry, finished in a striking supersonic red, marked the momentous occasion.

A Celebration of Trust and Quality

The Certified Used Vehicle program initiated by Toyota has been at the forefront of the pre-owned vehicle sector in the country. Having operated since 1996, it has consistently demonstrated its unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and reliability. The program has held the title of the number one certified pre-owned vehicle program in the country for an impressive 16 consecutive years.

Representatives from Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) joined forces with the Sheehy Toyota team to commemorate this landmark sale. The lucky customer who purchased the vehicle received more than just a new car; they were also gifted a check that covered the full purchase price as well as a $10,000 donation made on their behalf to the Mentes Activas organization. This nonprofit organization plays a crucial role in promoting mental health awareness and education among young adults across the United States.

Customer Experience at the Forefront

Chris Prender, General Manager at Sheehy Toyota, expressed his honor in being part of such a significant event: “It’s a delight to be involved in the sale of our 8 millionth TCUV. This celebration reflects our dedication to ensuring our customers can trust the exceptional quality, safety, and durability of Toyota vehicles.”

The celebration went beyond the sale, as the customer also received a complimentary one-year subscription to SiriusXM, enhancing their entertainment experience in their new vehicle.

Rigorous Quality Standards

To be eligible for the esteemed Gold Certification under the TCUV program, a vehicle must meticulously pass through a 160-point quality assurance inspection. This thorough evaluation covers both interior and exterior conditions, engine performance, transmission operations, and safety features among many other criteria. Notably, hybrid, electric, and fuel cell components are also included in this comprehensive examination. Furthermore, vehicles bearing the Gold Certificate come with robust warranty offerings.

Additionally, Toyota launched a Silver Certification earlier this year to cater to more customers by relaxing criteria slightly for vehicles up to ten years old with mileage between 60,000 and 125,000 miles.

Looking Ahead

The ceremonial event at Sheehy Toyota took place on December 9th, and it reaffirmed Toyota's commitment to its customers and the wider community. With a presence that has intricately woven itself into the fabric of North American culture for over 65 years, Toyota continues to innovate and embrace sustainable mobility practices through its Toyota and Lexus brands.

Employing nearly 64,000 individuals directly across North America, Toyota continues to expand its footprint with manufacturing plants that have produced close to 47 million vehicles. Moreover, the construction of its new battery manufacturing facility in North Carolina is set to elevate Toyota's contributions to the electric vehicle market.
