CATL Unveils Comprehensive Energy Storage Solutions at The Smarter E South America 2026
CATL Showcases Full Energy Storage Ecosystem in Brazil
At The Smarter E South America 2026 held in São Paulo from August 25 to 27, CATL, a global leader in energy storage solutions, unveiled its comprehensive energy storage ecosystem. Demonstrating advancements across the entire energy value chain, the company highlighted its commitment to boosting Brazil’s sustainable energy future through a strategic partnership with Moura, a prominent local battery manufacturer.
Robust Portfolio Tailored for Brazil's Energy Challenges
CATL’s highlight of the event included the introduction of its TENER S system, a next-generation energy storage solution built for maximizing asset value without degradation in capacity over the first year. This innovative system is designed for a 20-year lifespan with features such as a liquid cooling mechanism that reduces auxiliary power consumption by up to 20%, helping to minimize operational outlay. Given Brazil’s issues with grid instability, TENER S offers significant utility-scale capacity and reliability, crucial for integrating renewable resources.
In addition to this, CATL also presented its TENER H, designed for high-density utility and industrial scenarios. Utilizing high-capacity 575 Ah cells, it optimizes land use, accommodating 9,008 kWh per container while offering versatile operational configurations. This system can be tailored for rapid grid stabilization as well as enhancing long-duration returns, boasting a remarkable 96.0% round-trip efficiency.
A notable introduction is the TENER Sodium, the company's first integrated sodium-ion system, which aligns with the unique needs of the Brazilian market. With a capacity of 30 MWh and capable of operating in a range of temperatures, TENER Sodium boasts certifications such as IEC, UL, and CE. This system underlines CATL's strategic entry into sodium battery technology, complementing its extensive project delivery experience.
Partnership with Moura for Enhanced Local Production
As part of its commitment to long-term collaboration in Brazil, CATL announced a strategic partnership with Moura. This collaboration aims at joint participation in Brazil's Capacity Reserve Auction for Energy Storage (LRCAP 2026), reinforcing the local supply chain while ensuring adherence to content regulations established by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
Ray See, Executive President of CATL’s Americas Energy Storage Business Division, emphasized, “Our dedication to Brazil is built on partnership, proven delivery, and localized service.” This partnership aims to combine CATL's sophisticated energy storage innovations with Moura's extensive market expertise, focusing on localized production to meet growing energy requirements effectively.
Commitment to Local Support and Lifelong Service
CATL's investment in Brazil extends throughout the entire lifecycle of its energy storage projects. The company has built a robust service network across South America, staffed by senior experts and certified engineers, ensuring quick response times. From one-hour remote support to on-site assistance within two days, CATL’s dedicated support structure is framed to uphold operational reliability.
Their logistics strategy includes a network of warehouses and regional inventory that guarantees the availability of essential spare parts for up to two decades. Moreover, through facilities in Santiago, Chile, CATL offers standardized training to equip local talents with necessary skills, while managing regional recycling channels to facilitate compliant dismantlement and material recovery processes.
Global Recognition and Market Leadership
CATL's reputation as a leader in the energy storage field has been further solidified through numerous accolades in 2026. Notable recognitions include being named a Tier 1 supplier by SP Global Energy for battery storage systems and receiving top marks from Wood Mackenzie and BloombergNEF, confirming CATL's status as a benchmark of reliability and bankability in the industry.
Financially, CATL reported impressive figures, with energy storage system revenue skyrocketing to approximately $7.9 billion in the first half of 2026, marking an 87.54% increase year-over-year. The company's pioneering projects—including the massive 602 MWh in Bulgaria and the Gemini project in the U.S.—showcase its ability to deliver substantial energy storage solutions effectively and reliably.
Through successful collaborations and strategic initiatives, CATL is poised to play a pivotal role in transforming Brazil’s energy landscape, driving the country towards a sustainable and resilient future in energy storage.
