Strengthening Tourism and Business Ties Between Serbia and North Macedonia Before EXPO 2027 Belgrade

Serbia and North Macedonia Collaborate for EXPO 2027 Belgrade

In a significant move to enhance tourism and business relations, Serbia and North Macedonia have kicked off preparations for EXPO 2027 Belgrade with a B2B networking event titled "Visit Serbia." Held in Skopje, this event serves as a platform for industry professionals to explore potential collaborations as the region gears up for the upcoming expo, set to take place from May 15 to August 15, 2027.

A Missed Opportunity Transformed

The event, organized by the EXPO 2027 Belgrade team, aims to attract tourism professionals and business representatives from North Macedonia and beyond, allowing them to discover Serbia's growing tourism and business landscape. As part of Serbia's extensive international roadshow, this initiative is designed to support the establishment of new travel programs and business partnerships in anticipation of the expo. Danilo Jerinić, the CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, emphasizes the rich connections between the two countries, stating, "Our nations share a geography, history, culture, and close human ties—facilitating not only tourism but also the development of lasting business relations."

Highlights of the Upcoming EXPO

North Macedonia has confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027 with a dedicated pavilion titled "All Rhythms of the Sun." This exhibit will showcase the country’s vibrant offerings, including music, gastronomy, wine, hospitality, nature, tourism, culture, and the arts. The theme of the EXPO, "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All," draws anticipated participants from over 140 countries, presenting an excellent opportunity for the Western Balkans to shine on an international platform. Moreover, bilateral trade between Serbia and North Macedonia reached an impressive EUR 1.5 billion in 2025, indicating a robust economic partnership that is expected to flourish further.

Tourism Trends

In light of the recent collaboration, tourism statistics reveal positive trends. In the first half of 2026, Serbia welcomed 82,047 visitors from North Macedonia, marking a 22% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This growth underlines the strengthening ties between the two nations and highlights the potential for increased tourism opportunities as they work together.

The "Visit Serbia B2B Networking" event will take place on October 8, 2026, at the Public Room in Skopje, running from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. It promises to be a vital meeting point for stakeholders from both countries to strategize and explore collaborative efforts to enhance regional tourism and business relations.
