Subaru of America Reports December 2025 Sales Decline but Prominent Crosstrek Performance

Subaru of America Releases December 2025 Sales Data

Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA) has disclosed its vehicle sales for December 2025, registering a total of 57,437 sales. This figure reflects a 7.2% decline compared to the same month last year. Finishing the calendar year with a total of 643,591 vehicle sales, Subaru experienced a 3.6% decrease from 2024.

Despite the overall decline, one notable highlight in this report is the performance of the Crosstrek model. This versatile vehicle not only maintained its top seller status for the eighth month in a row but also celebrated its best sales year ever, with 191,724 units sold, marking an impressive 5.5% increase compared to the previous year. Following behind was the Forester, which secured the second spot in December sales, achieving 175,070 annual sales, while the Outback rounded out the top three with 157,716 for the year.

Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer of SOA, commented on the year-end performance, stating, "Subaru closed out 2025 with the same dedicated focus we started the year with, delivering vehicles of exceptional value while staying true to the core values that define us." He added gratitude towards the retailers who supported the transition of Forester assembly to Subaru of Indiana Automotive, part of a broader strategy to bolster their lineup including gas, hybrid, and fully electric options.

The Legacy model, while lower in sales volume, showed significant resilience, achieving 22,212 sales for the year—a 13.4% increase compared to 2024. However, models such as Ascent and WRX encountered declines, reporting a decrease of 21.1% and 41.2% respectively for the year.

Troy Poston, Senior Vice President of Sales, remarked, "Our retailers stayed focused on delivering thoughtful, personalized experiences for customers throughout the busy year-end period, strengthening relationships with both customers and communities nationwide. We are set for an exciting 2026 lineup with the all-new Trailseeker and Uncharted, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our customers."
