FANCL's Skincare Workshop for Kids at St. Cecilia Elementary School
On February 27, 2026, FANCL Corporation conducted a unique skincare workshop aimed at sixth-grade students at St. Cecilia Elementary School in Yamato City, Kanagawa Prefecture. This engaging event was designed for 27 young participants, empowering them to learn about skin health in relation to sustainability and the environment. The workshop is part of FANCL's ongoing initiative, the 'FANCL SDGs Course,' which has been providing educational opportunities surrounding the UN's Sustainable Development Goals since 2021.
The workshop featured dedicated employees of FANCL as instructors who guided the students through various aspects of skincare and environmental issues. In the first half of the session, students explored how environmental problems like global warming and air pollution can impact their skin. They deepened their understanding of what healthy skin entails, especially in light of the unique characteristics of children's skin. The importance of daily practices that help maintain healthy skin was also emphasized.
In the latter half of the workshop, hands-on skincare activities took center stage. The participants began by measuring their skin's moisture level using a hydrometer, an exciting first-time experience for many of them. This was followed by an interactive skincare demonstration featuring FANCL's specially developed 'FANCL Clear Up' products for children. The students learned how to cleanse their faces gently with foam and subsequently moisturized their skin using a gel milk product. After repeating the moisture measurement, the students were astounded to see an increase in their skin's hydration, prompting expressions of awe and excitement among the group.
As the children shared their thoughts, many expressed how interesting it was to learn about skin health in the context of SDGs and environmental issues. Comments included remarks like, 'I found it fascinating to learn about skin in connection with SDGs and environmental concerns,' and 'I was amazed that my skin felt hydrated and looked better.' The school principal also shared positive feedback, stating, 'This workshop successfully linked a relatable topic—skin health—with SDGs, making it very valuable for the children.'
With an eye towards the future, FANCL is committed to offering more opportunities for children to engage with sustainability themes while simultaneously learning correct skincare habits. By continuing to teach children the importance of skincare in conjunction with understanding environmental responsibilities, FANCL hopes to foster a generation that cares for both their skin and the planet. Through fun and educational approaches, kids will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and habits to maintain both their skin's health and our shared environment.
This workshop not only educated the participants but also inspired them to think critically about how their daily choices affect their skin and the world around them. As FANCL continues on this path, we can expect more such initiatives that blend education, fun, and activism for a healthier future.
