Yutong Unveils New Generation of Battery Electric Intercity Bus IC12E at UITP Hamburg 2025

Yutong Bus, a leading global manufacturer of utility vehicles, has made waves at the UITP Summit 2025 held from June 15 to 18 in Hamburg, Germany, by unveiling its new generation of the battery electric intercity bus, the IC12E, under the theme "Think Eco, Move Green." This innovative bus is specially designed for the European market to meet the growing demand for sustainable transportation.

The IC12E represents a significant advancement in electric bus technology, combining a long range, powerful performance, high capacity, and exceptional quality. Yutong has crafted this bus to cater to intercity operations, ensuring it can tackle various road conditions and requirements effortlessly.

In a groundbreaking test, the IC12E embarked on an extensive journey that spanned four European countries, starting in Hamburg, then progressing through Copenhagen, Gothenburg, and finally Oslo. This real-world challenge assessed the bus’s performance under different conditions: urban streets, highways, bridges, coastlines, and ramps. The data collected was impressive, showing that the bus traveled a remarkable distance of 1,272 kilometers with an energy consumption average of just 0.7 kWh/km, even when not fully loaded. This remarkable efficiency highlights Yutong's leadership in the new energy technology sector.

During the trial, the IC12E successfully managed a challenging range of 510 kilometers between Germany and Denmark. Remarkably, during the trip, its state of charge (SOC) decreased from 99% down to 31%, leaving a range of 170 kilometers still available. Additionally, in a charging efficiency test, it was able to boost its SOC from 13% to 99% in just 1 hour and 40 minutes while using a single charger. Furthermore, the IC12E impressed on steep climbs in Norway, displaying the capability to ascend gradients of up to 20%.

Another highlight showcased at the summit was the Yutong U12, a premium battery electric city bus designed for main urban routes. Awarded the Busworld Design Label, this 12-meter vehicle has a capacity to comfortably transport up to 95 passengers, featuring a high-strength, robust structure with a closed-loop body and a safety battery system known as YESS. This model emphasizes safety, efficiency, comfort, and smart management, showcasing Yutong's holistic approach to sustainable public transport solutions.

As the demand for green and sustainable modes of transport continues to rise, Yutong is committed to creating greater value for its customers and enhancing public transport experiences. By focusing on eco-friendly, safe, and convenient mobility solutions, Yutong aims to contribute significantly to the evolution of the public transport sector while fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.
