ActiMethod Monzen Nakacho School Opening in March 2026
In March 2026, a new branch of ActiMethod will open its doors in Monzen Nakacho, and the excitement is palpable! Developed by i GO, this revolutionary English learning method combines typing skills with language acquisition to create a dynamic environment for children. Across Japan, the ActiMethod children’s English classes are rapidly expanding, with over 100 schools launched by December 2025 and many more slated for the future.
To celebrate the opening of the Monzen Nakacho branch, free trial sessions will be held. Here’s a chance for parents and students to experience the unique teaching approach of ActiMethod.
Changes in English Education in Japan
It has now been over three years since English became a formal subject in elementary schools in Japan, leading to a significant shift in language education nationwide. Starting from the academic year 2020, new curriculums were rolled out, significantly altering how English is taught from elementary to middle school. By the time students reach the 5th and 6th grades, they have two weekly English classes, totaling 70 hours annually, designed to develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
The curriculum has become more structured, aligning with middle school standards and focusing on cultivating the foundational abilities required for effective communication. This change indicates that the level of English proficiency expected from elementary students has sharply risen, necessitating an early introduction to foreign languages—now, these classes begin in grades 3 and 4.
In middle school, vocabulary expectations have increased from 1,200 to between 1,600 and 1,800 words, with a shift towards teaching in an all-English environment. Additionally, programming classes are now mandatory at the elementary level, further transforming students' learning experiences. The impact of these changes will be felt in the upcoming university entrance exams starting from the 2024 academic year, which will adhere to the new educational guidelines.
Benefits of the ActiMethod Typing-English Learning
The hallmark of ActiMethod’s teaching approach is its ability to facilitate rapid vocabulary acquisition through typing. Unlike traditional English writing practices, students learn through a typing-based system that allows them to input words on a keyboard, significantly enhancing their vocabulary skills. Audio cues guide them in spelling while reinforcing correct pronunciation, enabling simultaneous practice of auditory and kinesthetic skills.
As students acclimatize to typing as their primary method of practicing English, they often find they can input words 5 to 10 times faster than when writing by hand.
