This year marks a significant milestone for SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia, as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. From October 2 to 4, the festival returns to the picturesque island of Formentera, embodying a decade of unforgettable experiences centered around music and culture.

With the theme "(Re)discover Posidonia," this year celebrates the essential artists and iconic locations that have shaped the festival's legacy. The approach of SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia consistently challenges the traditional festival concept. Unlike most festivals, the lineup remains a surprise until the event begins, blending well-known artists with emerging international talents in intimate and unconventional venues. Featuring a limited capacity of only 350 attendees, the festival emphasizes a holistic experience that transcends music. It intricately weaves together local gastronomy, beer culture, and a profound connection to Formentera, creating a distinctly different event from conventional operations.

Formentera: The Heart of the Experience

Formentera is not merely the backdrop for SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia; it is at the core of this vibrant experience. Each festival edition offers participants a chance to explore the island through live performances, land, and sea tours, led by local experts versed in its rich heritage. Over the past nine years, the festival has facilitated more than 30 land and sea routes in collaboration with over 50 local specialists, while attendees have covered some 60 kilometers on foot. The festival also prioritizes sustainable practices, as reflected in its commitment to making a positive environmental impact. SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia stands as the only music festival globally to achieve the "TRUE Zero Waste Platinum" certification for three consecutive years, the highest level awarded by Green Business Certification Inc. Additionally, since 2021, it has held a certified "zero emissions" status. Initiatives like shared mobility partnerships and ongoing support for projects like „Save Posidonia“ are instrumental in safeguarding the island's natural environment, particularly its oceanic seagrass meadows, which are vital to the local ecosystem.

A Decade of Musical Excellence

Throughout its journey across nine successful editions, SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia has showcased a diverse array of 78 artists and organized 83 concerts and 17 DJ sets, featuring notable acts like The Vaccines, Jorge Drexler, Roosevelt, Baiuca, Israel Fernández, Queralt Lahoz, Pongo, Crystal Murray, KABEAUSHÉ, and Los Bitchos, among others. Ten years later, the festival's evolution demonstrates the potential to grow while retaining an intimate atmosphere, forging meaningful connections with its host locations, and fostering cultural, social, and environmental value.
