Samsung Spatial Signage Delivers Immersive Experience at Tokyo Game Show 2026

Samsung Delivers Immersive Gaming with Spatial Signage at Tokyo Game Show 2026

From September 17 to 21, 2026, the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) held at Chiba's Makuhari Messe featured an impressive display of Samsung's Spatial Signage, a technology developed in collaboration with NC Corporation. Utilizing advanced 3D display technology that doesn't require special glasses, this experience brought the fantasy characters of the urban RPG, Astray Oratio, to life in an extraordinary way. Attendees were greeted by near-life-sized representations of their favorite characters in a uniquely immersive setting that blurred the lines between digital and reality.

Bridging Reality and Fantasy for Fans

The primary challenge for game publishers and intellectual property holders has always been extending the presence of digital characters into the physical world. At TGS 2026, NC Corp elegantly addressed this by featuring an 85-inch Spatial Signage installation at the entrance to their booth. This display not only showcased the characters of Astray Oratio in astonishing detail but also employed Samsung's patented 3D plate technology, generating depth that captivated attendees from the moment they entered.

Yongsoo Lee, head of the Astray Oratio division at NC, shared, "In subculture games, it is crucial to vividly and realistically showcase characters. With Samsung Spatial Signage, we believed that visitors could truly feel they were stepping into the game's world instantly upon entering our booth."

Attendee Reactions: An Engaging Experience

Feedback from visitors highlighted the impressive scale of the display, the lifelike movement of the characters, and the profound depth of perception offered by the signage. Notable content creator Kawaii CoCo remarked, "It felt as if I were actually interacting with the characters; they appeared so lifelike and memorable. The display’s presence is perfect for social media—it's definitely something I'd want to capture and share with my followers!"

The Spatial Signage, measuring only 52 mm thick, was expertly designed to create an illusion of depth within a confined area, significantly enriching the first impression of games and characters presented in public venues. As Daniel Acero observed, "By offering such an experience in public, we can raise interest in games while effectively showcasing the charm of each character. The depth was so convincing it was hard to realize I was looking at a display!"

Enhancing the Visitor Experience

To further engage attendees, a compact 32-inch Spatial Signage unit was placed strategically within the waiting areas, connecting visitors with the game’s characters and lore even while they were in line. Tomas Portier expressed, "Even though the queue was a bit long, the Spatial Signage made time fly by, allowing me to learn more about the characters more interactively than through traditional displays."

Effective Use of Space for Visual Impact

As retailers and event organizers often seek to create visual impact within limited spaces, Spatial Signage combines thin design with 3D visuals to maximize impactful utilization. Yongsoo Lee elaborated, "It was a challenge to plan the visitor flow, but the thin design of the Spatial Signage helped us effectively utilize space while also providing an area for merchandise storage."

The installation not only served as a captivating attraction but also contributed to the booth’s layout, allowing for a seamless integration of display and storage space. David Yousefi noted, "Considering its boxy structure, I expected it to be much larger; it's incredible that it fits into such a compact space."

Future Applications Beyond Gaming Events

The flexibility of Spatial Signage opens possibilities for various stakeholders—game developers, retailers, and event organizers—to showcase content in diverse environments. Miguel Moren, a participant in the gaming industry, shared, "The animated game characters looked as if they really belonged in the physical space—like a seamless connection between imagination and reality." Visitors also expressed hope for the potential applications of this technology beyond gaming events. Rin Matsushita remarked, "Seeing my favorite characters move before my eyes was simply amazing! It’d be fantastic if it could be seen in places like Akihabara, too."

Nicolas Felix suggested that the technology could enhance brand recognition in retail, saying, "Using it for store branding could effectively showcase apparel worn by people in a compelling way." Yousefi added its potential for attractions and events, noting, "It seems useful for presentations at theme parks and more."

Expanding Beyond TGS: The Future of Spatial Signage

The debut of Samsung’s Spatial Signage at Tokyo Game Show is one of many examples illustrating its application across entertainment, retail, and event industries. In South Korea, Everland Safari World incorporated it into attraction queues, transforming the waiting experience into a safari adventure. Meanwhile, at the Governors Ball Music Festival in the United States, the technology utilized 85-inch displays to incorporate merchandising into live events seamlessly.

These implementations underline the capability of Spatial Signage to deliver visual allure and spatial efficiency, effectively connecting audiences with content. Designed to integrate naturally into diverse environments, it provides an avenue for information dissemination and captivating presentations in spaces where traditional displays are less effective.
