The Takanawa area is rich with history, once facing the sea and bustling with travellers in the Edo period at the Takanawa Oki-Do. The advent of Japan’s first railway approximately 150 years ago showcased groundbreaking innovation by combining Western techniques to construct a railway over the sea.
