GROUPAUTO International's Complete Acquisition of Softeca Fuels Digital Advancement in Automotive Sector

In a significant move to bolster its digital transformation efforts in the automotive aftermarket, GROUPAUTO International (GAI) has completed the acquisition of Softeca, a software development company located in Burgos. This strategic acquisition builds on GAI's initial investment, taking its ownership to 100%, and paves the way for enhanced innovations in digital solutions within the automotive sector.

GAI has been a prominent name in the automotive aftermarket since its establishment in 1990, operating a vast network that spans across five continents and 117 countries. The organization’s aim is to provide independent businesses, fleets, and private vehicle owners with quality alternatives to traditional manufacturer service networks. The acquisition of Softeca symbolizes not just a financial investment but a commitment to deepening technological capabilities to meet evolving market demands.

Prior to this full acquisition, GAI held a 33% stake in Softeca since 2022. Their collaboration during this time led to the development of innovative platforms such as the GNM Systems, designed for parts distributors and workshops, and GPS—a data-driven tool for rebates and forecasting. These initiatives have proven to be crucial for GAI's digital transformation strategy.

With the complete control over Softeca, GAI intends to leverage Softeca’s expertise to expand and diversify its digital ecosystem. Günter Weber, GAI's President and CEO, emphasized that this move would ensure stability and autonomy by reducing reliance on third parties. “The 100% acquisition of Softeca not only strengthens our internal capabilities but also allows us to enhance our offerings in the Independent Aftermarket. We aim to extend our influence beyond Europe,” he noted.

Ignacio Cantera, the Founder and CEO of Softeca, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition's potential. He highlighted that with full ownership, Softeca is better positioned to connect with GAI's stakeholders, facilitating innovation across its technological solutions. The company’s focus will remain on working alongside startups specializing in digitalization, artificial intelligence, and other advanced tech, ensuring they remain at the forefront of meeting future market needs.

The acquisition also signals GAI's ongoing investment in AI and advanced technologies, aimed at equipping its members and suppliers with the competitive edge needed in an increasingly digitized industry. By enhancing its technological arsenal, GAI expects to deliver better services and solutions to existing clients while attracting new businesses.

Softeca is recognized for its extensive experience in providing digital solutions tailored to enhance business operations across various sectors including automotive, healthcare, and insurance industries. With over 22 years in the field, Softeca has a proven track record, having completed more than 350 projects utilizing cutting-edge technology to optimize its clients' processes.

The full acquisition marks an exciting new chapter not only for GROUPAUTO International and Softeca but also for the broader landscape of the automotive aftermarket. By integrating their strengths and focusing on collaborative innovation, they aspire to deliver exceptional value to their clients, setting new benchmarks in the industry.

As GAI and Softeca move forward, their shared vision for sustainable growth and commitment to exceptional customer service will be key factors in driving their success in the evolving automotive market. With this strategic acquisition, both companies are well-equipped to lead the charge into the future of automotive services, embracing technology to foster improvement and efficiency in all operations.
