Zeon Corporation Enhances Employee Welfare with New Cafeteria
In a significant move to bolster employee welfare, Zeon Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has officially opened a new cafeteria at its Takaoka Plant located in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. The inauguration of this facility, which took place during a ceremony attended by dignitaries from the local community, construction representatives, and key company officials including Chairman Takana Koji, marks a historic investment in employee welfare, as it is the first major update to the cafeteria in sixty years.
The previous cafeteria was completed in 1960 and had undergone an expansion in 1966, serving the dietary needs of Zeon Group employees in the Takaoka area. However, the existing facility faced challenges due to aging infrastructure and evolving employee needs. The newly constructed cafeteria, strategically relocated in front of the factory's main gate, is designed to address these issues while fostering a communal atmosphere where employees can relax and interact, promoting both lively communication and overall mental and physical well-being.
Features of the New Cafeteria
Safe and Assured Dining
The newly designed cafeteria boasts a capacity to serve approximately 500 meals daily, effectively doubling the previous operational scale. Safety measures, including earthquake and flood resistance, have been implemented, ensuring employees can enjoy meals in a secure and comfortable environment.
A Design That Reflects Local Culture
The cafeteria's design incorporates elements from Toyama Prefecture's natural beauty and is heavily influenced by local architecture. Inspired by the traditional wooden lattice homes of Takaoka City’s Kanayamachi district and the craftsmanship of Takaoka Copperware and lacquerware, the environment marries traditional aesthetics with modern functionality.
Spaces that Foster Communication
Featuring an impressive ceiling height ranging from 5 to 7 meters, the cafeteria is drenched in natural light, creating an open and inviting space. This layout not only enhances relaxation but also encourages spontaneous interactions among employees. Different seating styles are available, catering to various needs and allowing for flexible arrangements, thereby opening up possibilities for future events and gatherings.
Overview of the New Employee Cafeteria
- - Structure: Steel-framed, single-story building
- - Total Floor Area: 1,008 square meters (approximately twice the size of the previous facility)
- - Seating Capacity: 181 seats (20% increase compared to before)
As Zeon Corporation approaches the 70th anniversary of its Takaoka Plant in November 2026, this new cafeteria stands as a testament to its commitment to enhancing the workplace experience. By creating a conducive environment for employee interactions, Zeon aims to realize its vision of being a "truly exciting company", focusing on fostering a vibrant corporate culture and enriching employee engagement.
