Exploring Global Agriculture at CISCE: Friends as the Key Ingredient
A Journey Through Agriculture and Friendships at CISCE
During the recent third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) held in Beijing, British visitor Jay Ian Birbeck discovered a unique aspect of global agriculture — the role of friendships in fostering collaboration and innovation. From July 16 to 20, Jay took a deep dive into the vibrant Green Agriculture Chain section, which showcased a diverse array of exhibitors, highlighting the growing international presence in the agricultural domain.
As he wandered through the expanse of the expo, Jay was particularly struck by the enhancements made this year, focusing on premium displays from regions such as Qinghai, Ningxia, Heilongjiang, and Xinjiang. The exhibits revealed a rich tapestry of local specialties, representing the diverse agricultural heritage of China.
While savoring various local delicacies, Jay unexpectedly encountered a familiar face — an Arab friend he had met at the inaugural CISCE. This moment exemplified the expo's theme, serving as a platform for rekindling old friendships and establishing new connections among brands and exhibitors globally.
One success story that caught Jay's attention was the partnership forged between JiShuo Technology and Jinma Weighing Apparatus, which began at the previous editions of the expo. Their evolving relationship has culminated in a strategic agreement signed at this year's event. The collaboration aims to develop a more reliable and streamlined traceability and trading system for livestock products, showcasing how friendships can lead to significant advancements in industry practices.
Another highlight of Jay's visit was the McDonald's China booth, where he found an exciting initiative. The company had brought together eleven upstream and downstream supply chain partners to exhibit their achievements collectively. During the expo, McDonald's China took a significant step towards sustainable business by launching the "McDonald's China Chain Pledge." This initiative is based on the company's foundational philosophy of the 'three-legged stool,' representing the balance between brand, employees, and suppliers, collectively aiming for sustained success through strong partnerships and shared aspirations.
At the Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) booth, a first-time participant at the CISCE, Jay experienced an innovative interactive showcase called the "Seed Tree." This unique display allowed attendees to scan a QR code to trace products from farm to fork, providing full transparency about their supply chains. A representative from LDC shared their excitement at establishing new business relationships and exploring collaborative opportunities to build safe and sustainable food chains for current and future generations.
The CISCE provided a fertile ground for nurturing long-term relationships and spawning new partnerships, contributing to a robust green agriculture community. Each connection made at the expo serves to strengthen the global supply chain, illustrating why the event is an essential gathering for those in the industry.
As Jay walked away from the CISCE, he reflected on the vital takeaway from his experience — the importance of friendships in agriculture. The expo symbolizes not only a platform for product showcasing but also a vital network that encourages collaboration and growth among industry players worldwide.
The upcoming years may witness exciting advancements in global agriculture, thanks to the friendships forged and nurtured at gatherings like the CISCE, marking its significance as an unmissable event in the agricultural calendar.
