Chery TIGGO 7 Super Hybrid Successfully Survives Extreme Battery Destruction Test in Mexico
Chery TIGGO 7 Super Hybrid Passes Challenging Battery Test in Mexico
On July 29, 2025, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. announced that its flagship model, the TIGGO 7 Super Hybrid, successfully completed an extreme battery destruction test in Mexico. This test, witnessed by industry experts and media representatives, involved the SUV crashing into a spherical barrier measuring 242 mm in height at a speed of 30 km/h, simulating hazardous high-altitude conditions.
The results demonstrated the vehicle's outstanding protective capabilities, as the battery only sustained superficial scratches with no leakage of electrolyte, no fire or explosions, and no smoke. Remarkably, the structural integrity of the battery pack remained intact, exhibiting minimal deformation on the bottom, while all high-voltage connectors continued to function optimally.
This rigorous test confirmed the effectiveness of Chery's innovative "Guardian Battery" system. The model is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries, which offer a fundamentally stable chemical structure. Additionally, the battery's housing utilizes high-strength steel, providing remarkable impact resistance due to its unique design that dissipates force efficiently.
Furthermore, the vehicle’s high-voltage cutoff technology ensures circuits disconnect in less than 10 milliseconds, significantly reducing the risk of short circuits. With an IP68 certification for dust resistance, the TIGGO 7 is engineered for reliable performance even in the harshest driving conditions.
The battery destruction test in Mexico marks a significant milestone in Chery's global safety challenge tour. Following rigorous evaluations in China, which included vehicle rollover tests and collision evaluations, the company also subjected a Super Hybrid prototype to a demanding 53-hour immersion in saltwater in Indonesia. Chery is committed to validating its vehicles under six extreme global conditions: extreme cold, extreme heat, extreme drought, extreme humidity, high-speed scenarios, and rugged terrain.
This proactive approach positions Chery as the first Chinese automobile manufacturer to conduct comprehensive safety validations overseas under such rigorous circumstances, ensuring high standards for its vehicles even in challenging environments.
In a bid to strengthen its safety commitment, Chery is promoting its core safety message, "Safety for Family," at Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest international airport. This high-visibility campaign aligns with its advanced battery safety technology, emphasizing the company’s dedication to creating a tangible five-star protection experience for customers worldwide.
As Chery accelerates its global expansion into the hybrid vehicle market, these tests not only highlight the robustness and reliability of the TIGGO 7 Super Hybrid but also serve as a testament to the brand's commitment to safety and innovation within the automotive industry. The blend of advanced technological features, rigorous testing, and a focus on customer safety reflects Chery's vision for the future of hybrid vehicles, where safety and sustainability coalesce for a safer driving experience around the globe.
