Good Greek Moving & Storage CEO Advocates for Movers' Rights in Washington D.C.
In a significant representation of the moving industry, Spero Georgedakis, the founder and CEO of Good Greek Moving & Storage, made his presence felt in the heart of Washington D.C. by attending the American Trucking Associations' (ATA) annual Moving & Storage Conference. This event, themed "Call on Washington," was held from September 9 to 11, 2025, and aimed to address the critical issues facing the household goods transportation sector in the United States.
The conference gathered federal lawmakers, industry leaders, and regulatory officials who engaged in discussions to confront the pressing challenges in the moving and storage field. As a new member of the MSC Executive Committee, Georgedakis took on a leadership role that highlighted Good Greek's commitment not only as a trusted relocation provider but also as a strong advocate for safety and industry reform.
During the conference, Georgedakis proudly reaffirmed Good Greek Moving & Storage's mission to elevate standards of safety, accountability, and consumer protection throughout the relocation sector. He stated, "Moving is one of life's biggest transitions, and it must be done with professionalism, safety, and integrity. In Washington, I was proud to elevate the voices of movers and consumers across the country, advocating for reforms that safeguard communities, support our military families, and strengthen trust in our industry."
Among the legislative initiatives discussed, Georgedakis met with U.S. Senator Ashley Moody, U.S. Senator Rick Scott, Congressman Brian Mast, and Congresswoman Laurel Lee to advocate for crucial reforms. One of the focal points was Senator Moody’s Safer Truckers Act, which seeks to enforce stricter residency and English proficiency requirements for obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This legislation has gained urgency due to a recent tragic incident in St. Lucie County, Florida, that resulted in three fatalities caused by a truck driver who allegedly entered the U.S. illegally and failed subsequent English proficiency assessments after a crash.
Further discussions led to the formation of priorities aimed at facilitating smoother military relocations. These include advocating for uniform access standards at military bases to minimize delays in Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves and strengthening the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) following the termination of a crucial contract. The event also saw the endorsement of the Household Goods Shipping Consumer Protection Act, aimed at combating fraudulent movers and brokers.
The scale of the moving industry was also emphasized at the conference, with an impressive statistic noting that over 7.5 million Americans relocated across state lines in 2023, fueling significant economic activity.
Georgedakis reinforced the vital role that the moving industry plays in supporting military families, serving as a pillar of the American economy. His initiative comes at a time when Good Greek Moving & Storage is expanding its operations nationally, including a launch in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they have partnered with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and the Vegas Golden Knights. This expansion reflects Good Greek's growth from a local business to a trusted nationwide service provider.
