CRRC Zhuzhou Institute Unveils 6.X Liquid-Cooled Energy Storage System at Smarter E Europe 2026
From June 23 to 25, 2026, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute will showcase its groundbreaking
6.X liquid-cooled energy storage system at the prominent
Smarter E Europe exhibition held in Munich, Germany. This event will serve as a platform for the company to demonstrate its advancements in energy storage technology centered around sustainability and efficiency. Notably, the 6.X system has shown an impressive
25% increase in energy density, while simultaneously reducing its footprint by
20%. These enhancements are poised to address the challenges of space constraints and regulatory requirements prevalent in European markets.
The launch follows the successful integration of a
200 MWh BESS project in Bohot, Bulgaria, which became fully operational in April 2026. This initiative exemplifies CRRC's commitment to advancing the energy landscape through innovative solutions.
Key Features of the 6.X System
The
6.X system is marked by three significant technical advancements:
1.
Optimized Space Utilization: The increase in energy density by 25% allows the system to fit into tighter locations, easing the concerns regarding space and permissions for new projects.
2.
Enhanced Thermal Performance: With a design focusing on top discharge thermal dissipation coupled with adaptive temperature control, the system realizes over
10% reduction in energy consumption related to thermal management, thus boosting overall system efficiency.
3.
Versatile Application Support: This integrated solution accommodates utility, grid, and commercial applications, enabling asset owners to achieve maximum returns across various deployment contexts.
Moreover, CRRC has conducted large-scale fire resistance testing and security validations in accordance with internationally recognized UL 9540A and NFPA 855 standards. This rigorous testing process assures stakeholders of the system’s safety and resilience in a wide array of operational environments.
Successful Project Delivery
The recent deployment of the Bohot project highlights CRRC's strategic capabilities in energy solutions. The project utilizes a modular architecture that includes DC battery cabins, integrated AC cabins, and PCS units, all linked to a
33 kV network interconnection system. The operational success of the Bohot project has significantly contributed to CRRC's credibility, gaining recognition from local partners and regulatory authorities, and solidifying CRRC's presence within the European energy market.
Community and Environmental Commitment
Beyond technology, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute is dedicated to local employment, skills development, and sourcing materials locally, thus bolstering national supply chains. Throughout the lifecycle of its projects, the company emphasizes ecological protection measures, energy efficiency, and minimizing carbon emissions, aligning with environmental sustainability goals. CRRC's adherence to both local regulations and international standards has earned it the trust of various governments and regulatory bodies worldwide.
In addition to the energy storage system, CRRC will also present its
460 kW Chixiao photovoltaic inverter at the Smarter E Europe event. This inverter adopts high-speed train design standards and uses new-generation Silicon Carbide (SiC) components, achieving a
28% increase in power density compared to previous models. This innovation is expected to reduce system costs for large-scale, grid-connected power plants.
Visitors are encouraged to explore CRRC’s exhibits at booths B2.540 and B2.640 in Hall B2, where they can discover new opportunities in the evolving clean energy market in Europe. For more information about CRRC Zhuzhou Institute and its innovative solutions, please visit their official website.
