KEY - The Energy Transition Expo 2026: A Milestone in Energy Transition



The 2026 edition of KEY - The Energy Transition Expo concluded with significant success, held at the Rimini Expo Centre. This event, organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), serves as a premier platform for showcasing advancements in the energy sector across Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean. With over 1,000 exhibitors and 530 invited buyers from 59 different countries, the expo witnessed a remarkable growth rate of 10% in overall attendance compared to previous years, further emphasized by a notable 9% increase in international visitors.

A Thriving Exhibition of Innovation



Occupying a sprawling 125,000 square meters across 24 exhibition halls, KEY 2026 presented an impressive array of innovations and technological advancements across seven key sectors of energy transition. The event attracted more than 1,000 participating brands, including 320 international companies, to display their cutting-edge solutions and products aimed at fostering a sustainable energy future. Furthermore, the event set a new standard with 412 journalists covering the expo, signaling a strong interest in the topics discussed and the innovations showcased.

Key Highlights



Among the notable features of this year's expo was the robust program of 160 high-quality conferences, which facilitated in-depth discussions on critical issues surrounding energy transition. Topics ranged from financing frameworks and energy efficiency measures for decarbonization to advancements in energy storage solutions and the increasing role of artificial intelligence in optimizing electrical grids.

The expo was inaugurated by Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Italy’s Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, highlighting the initiative’s importance to both the local and international communities. The participation of various delegations further established the event as a point of convergence for professionals interested in solidifying partnerships and collaborations across borders, particularly with the African continent through the newly established Africa Investment HUB.

Spotlight on Innovation and Green Jobs



Innovation and green job creation were at the forefront of the expo, particularly within the Innovation District, where 32 startups and SMEs displayed their pioneering initiatives. The Green JobsSkills program was specifically designed to connect employers with job seekers within the sustainability sector, fostering a movement towards a greener workforce.

In tandem with KEY, the International Electricity Expo (DPE) was hosted, focusing on the ecosystems of electricity production, transmission, distribution, safety, and automation, demonstrating a holistic approach to sustainability in the energy sector.

As the curtain falls on this year's event, excitement is already building for the next edition of KEY - The Energy Transition Expo, scheduled to return to the Rimini Expo Centre from March 10 to 12, 2027. Given the overwhelming success and the positive reception from participants this year, the expo is poised to enhance its offerings, attract an even larger audience, and continue being a pivotal event for industry stakeholders.
