Cherokee Federal Expands Role in FAA Weather Sensor Development to Enhance Flight Safety

Cherokee Federal Enhances FAA Weather Sensor Technology

In an exciting development for aviation safety, Cherokee Federal, the contracting division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, has embarked on an ambitious new project. They have secured a substantial contract worth $69.4 million from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), aimed at expanding support for vital weather sensor technology that plays a crucial role in flight operations across the nation. This latest award symbolizes the ongoing trust and collaboration between Cherokee Federal and the FAA, marking the third consecutive contract awarded to them in this vital area.

The Cherokee Strategic Solutions (CSS) team is set to spearhead the upgrade of weather information systems used at more than 500 FAA-operated airports. These enhancements will deliver precise and real-time weather data directly to air traffic controllers and pilots, ultimately improving flight planning, routing, and responsiveness to rapidly changing weather conditions, all of which are essential for maintaining safety in the skies.

According to Aaron Fletcher, Senior Program Manager at Cherokee Federal, this award underscores both the FAA's confidence in their expertise and the shared mission of improving aviation safety.
