Tanmiah Food Company Embarks on a Sustainability Journey with Electric, Zero-Emission Trucks
Tanmiah Food Company Embraces Sustainability
Tanmiah Food Company, a prominent provider of fresh and processed poultry in Saudi Arabia, is taking significant strides toward sustainability by introducing a fleet of 100% electric, zero-emission trucks for its logistics and distribution needs. This initiative is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility and aligns seamlessly with the national goals outlined in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
The Innovation Behind the Electric Trucks
The new model represents the Kingdom’s first fully refrigerated electric trucks specially designed for transporting fresh chicken. Powered by Quantron’s cutting-edge zero-emission technology, these trucks are crafted to support sustainable, long-range commercial operations. Notably, they can operate silently, making them ideal for nighttime deliveries in noise-sensitive areas.
To enable the smooth operation of these electric vehicles, Tanmiah has invested in the necessary infrastructure at its facilities in Riyadh. Each truck boasts a remarkable travel range of up to 240 kilometers on a single charge, enhancing its functionality and efficiency in logistics.
Launch Event and Collaboration
The unveiling of these eco-friendly trucks was celebrated during a dedicated event at Tanmiah’s headquarters, attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Shaikhi, Assistant Deputy Minister for Livestock and Fisheries from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA). The event showcased not only Tanmiah’s commitment but also the collaborative spirit with its partners—National Transportation Solutions Company (NTSC) and Massar Solutions—who are integral in implementing advanced fleet management and electric mobility solutions.
“By pioneering the use of electric trucks, Tanmiah is setting new standards in the industry,” said Zulfiqar Hamadani, Group CEO of Tanmiah Food Company. He emphasized the company's leadership role in fostering industry change towards more sustainable practices.
Environmental Benefits and Future Goals
One of the outstanding features of the new electric trucks is their impressive environmental impact. Each truck is expected to eliminate approximately 95 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions annually compared to traditional diesel vehicles. This development is not just a boon for Tanmiah; it sets a precedent for similar initiatives throughout the region, as the technology can help reduce carbon emissions equivalent to the transportation-related emissions of 25 Saudi residents.
Marcos Delorenzo, CEO of Tanmiah’s Poultry Division, highlighted that the introduction of these electric trucks reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability while optimizing its distribution network for fresh chicken. “We are not just delivering products; we are adhering to higher environmental standards and promoting cleaner transportation methods,” he noted.
A Broader Commitment to Sustainability
Tanmiah’s initiative with electric trucks is part of a broader sustainability agenda that aims to minimize environmental impact across various facets of its operations. The company has embraced projects like planting a million trees, reusing wastewater from its operations, and converting waste into fertilizer, demonstrating a holistic approach to sustainability.
With the launch of these electric trucks, Tanmiah Food Company is not just contributing to its operational efficiency but is also signaling a strong commitment to supporting the broader environmental objectives outlined in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. This includes fostering food security and responsible resource management, thereby creating a greener future for the Kingdom.
Founded in 1962, Tanmiah Food Company has evolved into one of the leading providers of poultry and related products in the Middle East. With operations in several countries including the UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait, the company continues to innovate and expand while prioritizing sustainability.
