CurTec Expands Operations in Westminster, South Carolina
CurTec USA is set to increase its manufacturing and storage capabilities with a substantial investment of $10 million in Westminster, South Carolina. This strategic expansion is not just an addition to the existing infrastructure; it represents a significant commitment to boosting local production and employment opportunities, creating 10 new jobs in the region. The project is scheduled to commence in October 2026, with completion expected by the second quarter of 2027.
As CEO Bart van Berkel remarks, the inception of the Westminster site in 2023 was aimed at better serving North American customers while laying a foundation for future growth. The current expansion effort will further enhance local production and inventory, ensuring more reliable supply chains for customers across the continent. This move comes at a pivotal time, as the demand for higher performance packaging solutions continues to rise, particularly within the life sciences and fine chemistry sectors.
Enhanced Production and Storage Facilities
The new expansion will include a state-of-the-art warehouse measuring approximately 2,536 square meters and will provide more than 2,000 pallet slots to accommodate increased inventory needs. A new extrusion-blow molding line will also be established, significantly elevating the capabilities in manufacturing smaller capacity packaging solutions made locally. Specifically, CurTec aims to produce 6-liter and 10-liter Click Pack buckets by the end of 2026, with plans to introduce large-opening small drums in 2027. Roy Kuipers, CurTec's Operations Manager, emphasizes that the simultaneous growth in production and storage capacity will bolster the company's ability to quickly respond to fluctuating market demands.
Commitment to Community and Workforce Development
The expansion in Westminster is designed not only to enhance operational capabilities but also to uplift the local community economically. Martin Lamar, the site director, states that the facility was strategically planned to align with their growth trajectory. The commitment to expanding the team further underlines CurTec's dedication to employing local talent, thereby fostering community development in Oconee County.
Jamie Gilbert, CEO of the Oconee Economic Alliance, echoes this sentiment by highlighting the positive economic impact this investment brings to the county. Just three years post the initial site launch, CurTec's actions reflect a confident investment in both the local workforce and economic landscape.
