Exploring Opportunities for Food Business in Indonesia
As the agriculture sector in Japan seeks to enhance foreign exports, an exciting opportunity arises for food-related companies to venture into Indonesia. In February 2026, from the 3rd to the 7th, a public-private mission will take place, and participants are encouraged to sign up. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries' commitment to bolster international business developments, particularly in the food sector. This mission offers participants the chance to meet with local government agencies and engage with pertinent businesses in Jakarta, providing valuable insights into the local market dynamics.
Mission Overview
The mission's itinerary starts on February 3, when participants will depart from Haneda Airport. They will arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and move to their designated hotels for a briefing on the agenda. February 4 is a pivotal day, as team members will be visiting local government bodies and engaging directly with retailers and restaurants. Evening dinners will allow for networking and a deeper understanding of the local food culture.
On February 5, participants will take part in a crucial business matching event, designed to create potential partnerships and collaborations with local enterprises. Follow-up site visits will give companies an enriched perspective of the marketplace.
February 6 will be another significant day as participants will tour halal-certified facilities, a crucial aspect of food operations in Indonesia. Later, an exchange meeting with companies already operating in the region will provide practical insights and first-hand experiences. Finally, on February 7, the group will return to Japan early in the morning.
Important Information
The mission has a participant limit of 20 individuals. This not only ensures a focused experience but also maximizes interaction with local stakeholders. In case of high demand, the Ministry will review applications and select participants based on criteria, ensuring a diverse representation from the food industry. Each company may need to adjust their number of attendees depending on overall participation.
Application Process
To join, candidates must fill out the designated application form before the deadline of January 16, 2026. The mission is entirely free of charge; however, participants need to cover their own travel insurance, flights, accommodation, and daily expenses. This includes costs associated with visas and any personal transportation required.
Online Briefing
An online session is scheduled for November 12, from 2 PM to 3 PM JST, where officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries and representatives from IC Net, Inc. will host a briefing. Here, participants will learn more about the mission and have the opportunity to express any specific requests they may have. Registration for this online briefing will also close on November 10, 2025.
This initiative presents an unparalleled opportunity for food companies looking to explore business avenues in a growing market.
