Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd., headquartered in Taito, Tokyo, is hosting a free online seminar titled "Latest Trends on SBTs for Nature: New Pathways and Expanded Goals for Early Action" on November 18, 2025. This event will focus on the recent advancements in the Science-Based Targets for Nature (SBTs for Nature), a critical initiative aimed at addressing the rapid degradation of natural environments due to human activities.
In recent years, there has been a growing consensus that to combat environmental degradation, companies must take proactive measures to reduce their ecological impact and contribute to nature recovery efforts. The SBTs for Nature framework is designed to guide businesses in setting measurable targets related to their environmental responsibilities, particularly around freshwater resources and land use.
The guidance released in July 2023 introduced methodologies for setting targets related to freshwater and land utilization, and since then, significant progress has been made. By applying acceleration pathways during the evaluation of value chains, businesses can now better define the scope of their efforts. This also includes the recent release of draft guidance for version 2 of SBTs for Nature, which expands target areas to include groundwater use and soil quality.
This seminar will delve into how the acceleration pathways can facilitate the defining of target scopes and how the expanded guidance on freshwater and land use can empower companies to adopt more rigorous environmental commitments. Participants will gain valuable insights into understanding and implementing SBTs for Nature.
