Gakken Group Expands After-School Programs to Four New Municipalities
The Gakken Group, represented by Gakken Holdings, has taken a significant step in enhancing childcare services by securing contracts to manage after-school care programs in four new municipalities: Komae City, Adachi Ward, Narashino City, and Saitama City. This marks the first time Gakken has operated in these regions, bringing the total number of contracts it holds to 47.
The subsidiary responsible for these services, Gakken Kokofun Nursery, has a strong presence in the Tokyo area, offering a variety of educational and childcare facilities, including licensed nursery schools, certified children’s centers, and after-school clubs. The increasing employment rates of women and the diversification of working styles have resulted in a surge of school-aged children needing supervision after school. Moreover, urbanization has led to a decrease in available play spaces, and there is an uptick in crimes that target children, all contributing to a complex environment surrounding child safety.
