Overview of STAR X
At the recent Intersolar Europe 2026 held in Munich from June 23-25, Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy (CNTE) introduced its latest innovation in large-scale energy storage: the STAR X liquid-cooled integrated DC/AC energy storage system. This groundbreaking system is poised to transform the landscape of energy storage solutions by offering advanced capabilities and efficient operations.
Key Features of STAR X
The STAR X system has been specifically designed for utility-scale applications as well as advanced commercial uses, delivering impressive performance specifications of up to 2800 kW / 5644 kWh. One of the standout features of STAR X is its highly integrated architecture, which combines the battery system with a liquid-cooled, grid-forming Power Conversion System (PCS) all within a single cabinet. This integration streamlines installation processes, significantly enhances safety, and quickens project implementation.
With the use of next-gen 530-Ah battery cells from CATL, STAR X ensures remarkable longevity, achieving over 10,000 charge cycles (at 70% State of Health). This system is among the industry’s first to offer liquid-cooled Energy Storage Systems (ESS) equipped with these advanced battery packs.
Moreover, STAR X employs CNTE's sophisticated cluster-level intelligent control technology, allowing for independent management of clusters and fault isolation, which translates to an astonishing system availability rating of over 99%. This innovation not only mitigates cluster imbalances and circulation losses but also enhances discharge capabilities across its lifecycle by 6%, while extending the overall system lifespan by 5%.
Versatile Configurations
CNTE has designed STAR X to adapt to various project scenarios, offering flexible configurations ranging from 1 MW / 2 MWh to 2.8 MW / 5.6 MWh, either in a high-performance 0.5P mode or the 0.25P mode for four-hour durations. Thanks to its transport-friendly design, the entire system maintains a weight under 45 tons, meeting international requirements for both land and sea transport.
Operation and maintenance have been simplified as well, with features such as click-through commissioning, APP-based initiation, OTA upgrades, AI-powered fault diagnostics, intelligent life prediction, and automatic State of Charge (SOC) calibration, significantly minimizing on-site maintenance efforts.
Safety and Operational Integrity
As for safety, STAR X comes equipped with a comprehensive multi-tier protection architecture that covers cell, module, cluster, and container levels. The system also boasts round-the-clock online isolation monitoring for enhanced operational security.
The STAR X system has been specifically developed to tackle various applications such as peak load coverage, integration of renewable resources, frequency regulation, microgrid support, and grid-forming capabilities. This endeavor underlines CNTE's ongoing commitment to driving the global energy transition through innovative energy storage technologies.
