Get Fit for No Kid Hungry: A Month-Long Initiative to Support Children
The fitness, health, and wellness community is uniting for a noble cause from January 15 to February 15 as they kick off the
'Get Fit for No Kid Hungry' initiative. This effort aims to raise both funds and awareness in the fight against childhood hunger across the United States.
During this month, participants can engage in free fitness and wellness classes hosted by prominent fitness trainers and influencers. At the same time, they are encouraged to contribute to the charity, with every dollar donated translating into ten healthy meals for children in need.
The No Kid Hungry campaign is dedicated to eliminating childhood hunger in America. It supports schools and community organizations by providing them with the resources they need to ensure children have access to nutritious meals. Currently, nearly 14 million children in the U.S. face hunger, and No Kid Hungry is actively working to ensure that every child benefits from three meals a day through vital programs like school meals and summer food initiatives. The campaign is also focused on advocating for impactful policies such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which assists families in accessing food.
In light of the recent devastating fires in the Los Angeles area, the organization is especially committed to understanding and helping families affected by this crisis. They are coordinating with community partners to provide immediate relief and remain attentive to ongoing needs to support those affected. Carla Warner, Senior Director of Revenue Innovation at Share Our Strength, the organization behind No Kid Hungry, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "Our organization was built on the belief that everyone has a strength to share in ending childhood hunger, and 'Get Fit for No Kid Hungry' is a true testament to that."
Dole Food Company is proud to be a presenting sponsor of this initiative. William Goldfield, the company’s Director of Corporate Communications, emphasized, "Nutrition is our north star, so addressing hunger and food insecurity for children is part of Dole’s global mission. This partnership is a natural extension of our dedication to promoting health and wellbeing for all."
