Support for Kumamoto Earthquake Victims

In response to the severe damage caused by the Kumamoto earthquake, the Pal System Cooperative Union (based in Shinjuku, Tokyo) started accepting donations on July 31. This initiative aims to assist affected individuals and support recovery efforts in the region. The donations collected will be allocated to various organizations actively providing support in the disaster-stricken area, as well as to manufacturers and producers who suffered losses due to the disaster, ensuring that the aid is used effectively.

Donation Details

The donation period is set until September 5. Users can contribute by placing an online order or through a donation registration form alongside their usual product orders. The contributions can be made in units of 300 or 1,000 yen, with multiple donations accepted (for example, a total of 3,600 yen can be donated by selecting two 300 yen donations and three 1,000 yen donations). Additionally, points accumulated through product purchases can also be utilized for donations.

Where the Donations Go

The funds raised are planned to be used for activity expenses of support organizations operating in the disaster area, recovery costs for affected manufacturers and producers, and direct aid to the victims. As soon as the recipients and usage details are confirmed, these will be reported through the Pal System’s website.

Continued Support Initiatives

Historically, Pal System has engaged in donation campaigns whenever major disasters occur. Not only does the organization call for donations that are directly disbursed to disaster victims through local governments, but it has also supported urgent volunteer efforts and recovery assistance for local producers and manufacturers connected through agricultural experiences and product presentations.

In recent years, significant contributions have been made during large-scale disasters in Japan. For instance, during the Noto Peninsula earthquake in 2024, over 170,000 users donated a total of 2.6 billion yen. Contributions were also made during the torrential rains in Kumamoto Prefecture in 2020 (totaling approximately 1.45 billion yen) and during Typhoons No. 15 and 19 in 2019, which amounted to around 1.9 billion yen in donations. The efforts have significantly contributed to the recovery and rebuilding of these regions.
