Acela Truck Company's New 4x4 Platforms Revolutionize Severe-Service Chassis Options

Acela Truck Company Expands Severe-Service Chassis Line

Acela Truck Company has recently announced a significant expansion of its severe-service chassis lineup. This new offering includes Class 3-5 Ford F-Series and Ram 4x4 platforms, featuring the innovative DuraLink® suspension system. This expansion aims to provide specialty vehicle manufacturers with turnkey solutions designed to meet the rigorous demands of various commercial and governmental sectors.

Introducing DuraLink Suspension

The DuraLink suspension technology is at the forefront of this expansion, offering a solution distinctly different from conventional lift kits found elsewhere in the market. Acela's Vice President of Sales, Bill Davidson, emphasized that while other options exist, they primarily resemble light-duty lift kits and lack the comprehensive performance and quality of the DuraLink system.

DuraLink is developed from proven Baja racing technology, specifically engineered for severe-duty applications across defense, emergency response, and other vocational uses. Its multi-rate four-link design integrates racing-tuned Bilstein coil-over shock absorbers, enhancing chassis stability and elevating overall vehicle performance. This system not only boosts wheel travel but also refines damping and rebound control, and minimizes negative steering feedback, allowing for better handling and comfort even in challenging terrains.

Enhanced Mobility and Customization

One of the standout features of the DuraLink-equipped chassis is its adaptability for upfitters. Acela provides these modified chassis as ready-to-go packages, significantly cutting down on production time and engineering complexity for those customizing vehicles for specialized tasks. This approach allows upfitters to concentrate on unique aspects of their services, confident that the foundational chassis is both reliable and high-performance.

The increased mobility offered by these systems allows operators to explore mission profiles that previously would have limited the use of traditional wheeled trucks. With the ability to use a range of tire sizes, including high-performance options for severe conditions, these chassis effectively bridge the gap between wheeled and tracked vehicles.

Comprehensive Chassis Portfolio

With the inclusion of the new Ford and Ram platforms, Acela now offers a robust chassis portfolio covering Truck Classes 1 through 8. This strategic expansion positions Acela as a leader in high-mobility, severe-service truck chassis, catering to final-stage manufacturers looking for cutting-edge chassis capabilities across all truck classes.

Davidson stated, “Customers can now come to Acela for world-class severe-duty chassis capability across every truck class. We are giving final-stage manufacturers chassis capabilities that are simply not otherwise available in the marketplace.”

In a marketplace that continues to evolve, Acela’s commitment to engineering excellence and innovative designs puts them in a prime position to meet the evolving needs of their customers in demanding industries.
