HealthWell Foundation Empowers Parkinson’s Disease Patients with New Fund for Medical Assistance
HealthWell Foundation Launches a Vital Assistance Fund for Parkinson's Disease
In a significant move to enhance support for individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, the HealthWell Foundation®, a reputable non-profit organization, has unveiled a new fund. This initiative aims to provide up to $4,000 in financial aid specifically targeting medication copayments and Medicare Part B premium costs for eligible patients living with Parkinson's.
Established to alleviate the financial burdens often faced by Medicare patients, this fund extends its aid to those whose household incomes are within 500% of the federal poverty level, ensuring that more people can access necessary treatments. As one of the leading neurodegenerative disorders, Parkinson’s disease affects around one million Americans, with nearly 90,000 new cases reported annually. The illness is characterized by a gradual loss of motor control and can also manifest through various non-motor symptoms such as anxiety and depression.
John L. Lehr, President and CEO of the Parkinson's Foundation, addressed the challenges that financial constraints impose on patients. He highlighted that for those living with Parkinson's, adhering to medication regimens is crucial, and missing even a single dose can dramatically impact their lives.
