A Real-World Application

To illustrate, consider a customer traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Dallas-Fort Worth with a layover in Tokyo. This individual boards Malaysia Airlines first and then connects to American Airlines. Instead of dealing with separate check-in processes at each airline, they only need to check in once using the American Airlines app, which includes scanning their passport. Boarding passes will be issued featuring the branding of both airlines involved, which can all be conveniently stored in a digital wallet. The passenger can then proceed directly to either the baggage drop-off point or security checkpoint, skipping the need to check in with an agent at the airport.
