Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL Collaborate to Innovate EV Charging Solutions

Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL's New Innovation Laboratory

On June 18, 2026, Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL officially inaugurated their joint innovation laboratory in Shenzhen, marking a significant milestone in their partnership aimed at advancing electric vehicle (EV) charging technology. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Evan Li, chief engineer of Shell E-Mobility China, and Kecheng Guo, CEO of SINEXCEL's EV charging solutions division, with the presence of top executives from both companies.

The partnership is particularly focused on tackling the pressing challenges in the global EV charging sector by combining Shell's extensive operational knowledge with SINEXCEL's expertise in power electronics. The newly established laboratory will function as a premier center for technical exchanges, collaborative research and development, project incubation, and pilot studies, prioritizing five key technological areas outlined in their strategic plan:

1. Next-Generation Ultra-Fast Charging: Developing light and efficient architectures to facilitate ultra-fast charging capabilities.
2. Cloud and Charging Station Integration: Implementing smarter energy management through synergistic planning of cloud infrastructures with charging stations.
3. Solar Storage and Charging Solutions: Optimizing the utilization of renewable energy through effective charging strategies and systems.
4. Megawatt Charging Infrastructure: Creating robust charging infrastructures tailored for heavy vehicles and fleets.
5. Smart Operations Technology: Enhancing real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance via AI-driven solutions to maximize operational efficiency.

The opening ceremony included technical discussions aimed at synchronizing the product strategies and deployment plans of both organizations in global markets. Evan Li highlighted that this innovation lab is more than a problem-solving platform, but rather a hub for exploring new business models and jointly creating value for customers.

“It represents our commitment to not only resolving key technical challenges but also leading the EV charging ecosystem towards sustainable development,” remarked Li.

Kecheng Guo echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the strong synergistic potential of their partnership, envisioning integrated solutions that will make charging processes faster, smarter, and more reliable. The collaboration aims to continually contribute to the global green energy ecosystem, reflecting a significant step toward sustainable mobility.

The official opening of the laboratory signifies a shift for this alliance into an active operational phase, where both companies will work collaboratively to push technological boundaries and expand application scenarios. This forward-thinking collaboration not only embraces the current technologies but also aims to drive the global transition towards a cleaner, safer, and highly efficient energy system, demonstrating an impactful commitment to innovation and sustainability in the electric vehicle sector.

As the EV market continues to expand, partnerships like that of Shell Recharge and SINEXCEL are crucial for fostering innovation and enhancing consumer experience in the electrification of transportation. Together, they are set to play a pivotal role in re-shaping the future of energy consumption and mobility, ensuring that electric vehicles become a more viable and sustainable option for consumers worldwide.
