Maruyama brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous tenure at Minami Nippon Broadcasting, where he dedicated over 42 years to broadcast media and management. His career has seen him assume numerous roles, including television director, journalist, and executive positions within the company. A Vision for Economic Revitalization

Wiz Kagoshima was established in April 2024 with the aim of revitalizing the local economy by merging the content capabilities of the Kagoshima Revenir basketball team with Wiz's extensive IT and business expertise. Under Maruyama's leadership, the company will enhance its support for local businesses by focusing on digital transformation (DX), AI integration, optimization of power costs, and assistance with business succession and mergers & acquisitions (M&A).

Reflecting on his career, Maruyama stated, “Since joining Minami Nippon Broadcasting in 1984, I have consistently engaged with the vital aspects of Kagoshima—its unique attractions and the challenges it faces. While the region is blessed with two UNESCO World Heritage Sites and an abundance of local culinary ingredients, pressing issues such as aging demographics, declining birth rates, and labor shortages pose significant hurdles.”

He reiterated the importance of combining the cultural assets of the Kagoshima Revenir with Wiz's vast knowledge to foster economic vitality. By leveraging networks in the DX, Green Transformation (GX), and AI sectors, Maruyama aims to enhance operational efficiency and corporate value for local enterprises.

Furthermore, he intends to support business succession through M&A initiatives, addressing the potential threat of local industry hollowing.
