Registration Now Open for Campus Takeover
Syracuse University, in collaboration with the renowned esports and gaming organization Gen.G, is proud to announce the opening of general registration for the inaugural Campus Takeover, scheduled for September 20-21, 2025. This groundbreaking event is designed to connect students and industry professionals, introducing them to exciting career opportunities within the burgeoning esports field.
The Campus Takeover promises to be an unforgettable two-day experience at Syracuse, where students will converge to engage in various enriching activities centered around esports and gaming. At the core of the event is the first-ever national Esports Business Case Study Competition, aimed at undergraduate students who have a keen interest in both esports and traditional sports. Registration for this competition will begin on July 15, providing college students with a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and gain recognition in a competitive environment.
In addition to the competition, attendees can look forward to keynote presentations delivered by distinguished figures in the esports industry, along with insightful discussions through a series of engaging panels. These sessions will focus on career paths available within the esports sector, featuring career panels specifically tailored for students eager to dive into this dynamic field. Moreover, networking events will provide invaluable opportunities for participants to connect with industry experts and peers, fostering relationships that could benefit their future careers.
Arnold Hur, CEO of Gen.G, emphasized the importance of the Campus Takeover, stating, "When we announced our multiyear partnership with Syracuse in December, we committed to enhancing student engagement opportunities. Campus Takeover will provide that opportunity for anyone interested in esports and gaming to learn more about our industry and build an impactful career."
Dr. Joey Gawrysiak, Executive Director of Esports at Syracuse University, echoed this enthusiasm, noting, "We’re absolutely thrilled to bring Gen.G's award-winning Campus Takeover event to Syracuse University. This partnership represents more than just a high-profile esports event—it's an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff across disciplines and institutions to come together. Campus Takeover will showcase what makes esports such a powerful connector in education."
The event will smoothly transition into Syracuse University Career Week, which will take place from September 22-26, organized by Syracuse University Career Services. This integration provides a seamless continuation of career-focused programming, reinforcing the commitment to student development and engagement within the esports ecosystem.
Furthermore, Gen.G and Syracuse are teaming up to offer the Gen.G Practicum Abroad—a three-week intensive program providing students with a chance to study in South Korea. This initiative provides an enriching international perspective and aligns perfectly with the innovative Esports Communications and Management bachelor’s degree offered by Syracuse University, collaboratively designed by the Newhouse School of Public Communications and Falk College of Sport.
In summary, the Campus Takeover event promises to be a landmark affair for Syracuse University and Gen.G, bridging the gap between education and the esports industry. This is a pivotal moment for students, educators, and professionals alike as they explore the limitless possibilities within esports, all while fostering a community centered on collaboration, competition, and growth.
