EY Japan Ranks 3rd in Nikkei Woman's Best Companies for Women 2026
In a remarkable achievement, EY Japan has secured the 3rd position in the 2026 edition of "Nikkei Woman's Best Companies for Women," conducted by Nikkei Woman and the Nikkei Business Publication. This acknowledgment is significant as it follows three consecutive years of EY Japan's presence in the top ten, showcasing its unwavering commitment to fostering women's empowerment in the workplace.
The ranking is derived from an extensive survey involving 451 participating companies, where EY Japan stood out based on multiple metrics that assess the working conditions and career advancement opportunities for women. The framework for the analysis was established through the "Women’s Empowerment Project" by Nikkei Woman and included key factors such as the degree of women in managerial positions, the promotion of women’s career advancement, work-life balance, and diversity within the workforce.
EY Japan's efforts to cultivate women leaders are evident through its dedicated sponsorship program, initiated in 2016. This program provides aspiring female executives with coaching from senior leaders and opportunities to attend executive meetings as observers, significantly enhancing their professional growth. In a bid to further nurture talent, the organization has limited the number of candidates per senior executive to two from 2025, ensuring a more focused development approach. Additionally, the firm is set to integrate AI-driven coaching for leadership training, allowing managers to engage with professional development flexibly and at their pace.
In 2025, EY Japan plans to bolster its support for women’s well-being by hosting seminars that cover topics such as menstrual health, fertility, and menopause, under the theme of considering careers through a physical lens. The initiative also includes the introduction of easy-to-use ovarian reserve assessment kits as part of their employee benefits program, reinforcing the linkage between career development and personal health management.
Recognizing the importance of team synergy among diverse groups, EY Japan has also rolled out a novel course based on applied sports psychology dubbed "Happy Learning". Over six months, this program has enabled around 100 managers to refine their self-management skills, focusing on maintaining mental and physical wellness while enhancing communication. Inspired by this training, a self-care culture has emerged, thus fostering an environment where women and young team members feel empowered to share their perspectives.
In November 2025, coinciding with International Men’s Day, EY Japan will host its inaugural event discussing gender issues under the theme of "Transforming Masculinity." The event aims to shed light on traditional male gender norms and the pressures they bring, facilitating crucial conversations about gender dynamics in the workplace. Moreover, the organization is committed to understanding and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community through a range of allyship training sessions, promoting a culture of recognition and respect for diversity.
Operating under the purpose of "Building a Better Working World," EY Japan focuses on infusing inclusivity into its core corporate culture. The organization is dedicated to implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in every facet of its operations, striving to create long-term value for all stakeholders involved. As EY Japan continues to set a benchmark in enhancing women's roles within corporate structures, it reaffirms its pledge to lead by example in facilitating an equitable working environment that benefits everyone.
