Inagi City Showcases New Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure with Terra Charge

Inagi City Unveils Advanced Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities

On June 11, 2025, a significant event took place in Inagi City, where local officials proudly showcased the new electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This event aimed to promote EV adoption within the community and featured the unveiling of the 150kW rapid charger from Terra Charge, a leading EV charging service provider.

The Event Details

The showcase occurred at the parking lot of Inagi City Hall, located at 2111 Higashinaguna, Inagi City. Present at the event was the Mayor of Inagi City, Mr. Katsuhiro Takahashi, who demonstrated the charging service. This collaboration underscores the city’s commitment to developing essential EV infrastructure as part of their efforts to achieve carbon neutrality.

Mr. Takahashi emphasized the importance of reducing CO₂ emissions from automobiles, a critical issue faced by many municipalities. As part of the city’s initiatives, Inagi announced its commitment to address these challenges through strategic partnerships. They established a cooperative agreement with Terra Charge in May of 2024, which facilitates the installation of charging stations without financial burdens on the local government.

Collaborating for a Sustainable Future

Under this innovative arrangement, charging stations will be installed in eight public facilities across Inagi City, five of which are already operational. The remaining three locations are set to be launched within the fiscal year. Given that Inagi City has a high number of apartment complexes, the setup of charging stations within private property can pose challenges due to the required consensus among residents. However, by providing charging facilities at public venues, the city aims to create a more accommodating environment for EV users.

In his remarks, Mayor Takahashi expressed a desire to foster collaboration among citizens, businesses, and local government to further enhance this eco-friendly initiative. He views this collaboration as a potential model for promoting decarbonization through public-private partnerships.

Insights from Terra Charge

Shinpei Hongo, the Head of Corporate Sales at Terra Charge, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership. He noted that the installation of EV chargers in convenient locations increases the feasibility of choosing EVs for local residents. Hongo remarked that electric vehicles, often referred to as ‘mobile batteries,’ can significantly contribute to community resilience during emergencies by functioning as alternative energy sources.
