A New Mobile Puzzle Game 'Structura' Launches for Learning Chemistry Reactions

Introduction to 'Structura'

On August 11, 2026, SNAPLACE LLC unveils a unique smartphone application designed to help high school students master inorganic, organic, and polymer chemistry reactions through an enticing falling object puzzle game called 'Structura'. The app is now available on Google Play and the App Store.

Why Memorizing Chemistry is Challenging

High school chemistry primarily focuses on understanding what compounds can be formed when different elements interact. Many students struggle because simply looking at textbooks or Q&A formats does not lead to long-lasting retention. There is a common sentiment among students preparing for exams that concepts such as the colors of precipitates or the production of gases do not stick. The mission behind 'Structura' is to transform this memorization from a passive activity into an interactive engagement.

Game Mechanics and Structure

In 'Structura', players connect falling elements and ions on their screens. For instance, if hydrogen (H) combines with oxygen (O), it produces hydroxide (−OH) and can progress to water (H₂O) with the addition of one more hydrogen. A compound is only formed when the number of bonds and charges balance correctly. Further, the gameplay does not allow arbitrary mixing of elements—players must use specific experimental conditions such as heating (Δ), electrolysis (⚡), light (hν), and catalysts (cat) to initiate reactions. For example, players learn that simply heating water does not break it down; it requires electrolysis to eventually separate hydrogen and oxygen. Thus, the app allows students to embody these chemical principles interactively.

The game covers a total of 356 reactions, with 308 detailed in its encyclopedia, spread across 46 distinct stages. It includes a variety of practical applications, from processes like the contact process and Ostwald process to the classical silver mirror reaction and coloration reactions involving sugars, amino acids, and proteins. Chemical structures and compounds are visually represented, making learning more appealing—benzene rings appear as hexagons, glucose as cyclic structures, while precipitates sink to the bottom and gases rise.

Features That Promote Retention

  • - Players are prompted to take short quizzes after completing each stage that test their knowledge of products from a set of four options, hiding the generated substances.
  • - Any missed answers are recorded and prioritized in future quizzes, optimizing learning by frequently reintroducing challenging materials until they become familiar.
  • - The game provides a 'how-to' button, allowing players to revisit procedures for creating target substances whenever needed.
  • - Elements in the game are personified as characters, adding a playful element; for example, sodium is depicted with a yellow flame, and fluoride boasts impressive oxidative power. Each stage begins with a brief exchange with a rookie chemist named 'Mol'.

Note: The game solely focuses on reactions. It does not include theoretical chemistry concepts such as mol calculation, chemical equilibria, electrochemistry, thermochemistry, or crystal lattice calculations.

Pricing Structure

The first three units totaling 14 stages and 91 encyclopedia entries are available for free, allowing users to explore gas production entirely. To unlock the remaining 32 stages and 217 entries, a one-time purchase of 500 JPY (tax included) is required. The game contains no in-app purchases, subscriptions, advertisements, gacha mechanics, or stamina systems, and does not collect personal information.
