Wecom Fiber Expands Broadband Access in Parker
On October 13, 2026, Wecom Fiber celebrated the successful completion of a pivotal broadband project in Parker, Arizona. This event was marked by a ceremonial ribbon-cutting attended by local leaders and representatives from the Arizona Commerce Authority. The project, which is part of the Arizona Broadband Development Grant initiative, aims to connect residents and businesses to reliable high-speed internet service.
The broadband expansion project covers a multi-year build that spans Mohave and La Paz counties, concluding with the Town of Parker. The upgraded network is set to enhance connectivity for 15,000 homes and businesses, providing vital access to high-speed internet for 124 community institutions, including libraries and schools. Rachel Solomon, the CEO of Wecom Fiber, expressed pride in the successful completion, highlighting the hard work and dedication of local construction crews.
"Completing our fiber build across the Town of Parker reflects the focus and dedication of our construction crews and local team," Solomon stated. "We’re thrilled to bring reliable, high-speed internet to a community that previously lacked real options."
Local leaders, including Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, emphasized the economic opportunities this investment will unlock for communities across Mohave and La Paz counties. Watson expressed gratitude to Governor Hobbs for her leadership in this initiative and acknowledged the collaborative effort that enabled this significant achievement.
Mayor Randy Hartless shared his enthusiasm, noting that reliable internet access is essential for modern living and business operations. "This project means homes and businesses across the Town of Parker now have access to reliable internet that didn't exist here before," Hartless remarked.
La Paz County Supervisor Duce Minor, a long-time resident, also weighed in, emphasizing the importance of this infrastructure for local businesses and residents. "This project reflects exactly the kind of investment our rural communities need," he stated.
The Arizona Broadband Development Grant (ABDG) Program focuses on expanding high-speed internet access throughout the state, with a significant investment of $100 million targeting enhancements in underserved areas. The total project investment for the Parker initiative reached $45 million, with Wecom Fiber contributing $35 million.
This ribbon-cutting ceremony not only symbolizes the end of a significant build-out but also represents the beginning of a new chapter for the Town of Parker and its residents. As the largest recipient of the BEAD awards in Arizona, Wecom Fiber is already in discussions to extend its services to even more remote areas across eight counties in the state, ensuring that more communities will benefit from high-speed internet access in the near future.
With infrastructure projects like this and continued investments, the future of broadband connectivity in Arizona looks promising. It marks a step towards closing the digital divide and ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to thrive in a digital economy. Through sustained efforts and collaborative support, Wecom Fiber and its partners are committed to fostering connectivity and empowering communities across Arizona.
Local leaders and community members alike are optimistic about the future as reliable internet becomes an integral part of life in Parker, paving the way for growth, innovation, and improved quality of life for all residents.
