On April 29, 2025, Hikvision, a leader in video surveillance solutions, released its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report for the year 2024. This report marks the seventh consecutive year of the company's commitment to ESG principles and processes. For the first time, Hikvision introduced its sustainability philosophy called THRIVE, which stands for Technology for Good. The philosophy focuses on five key areas: harmony, reliability, integrity, value chain, and the environment.
Key Themes Identified in the 2024 ESG Report
Through a detailed analysis of global ESG principles, assessment criteria, and stakeholder perspectives, Hikvision pinpointed three essential themes guiding its initiatives:
Technological Innovations,
Cybersecurity and Data Protection, and
Response to Climate Change.
Promoting Social Progress Through Innovations
Hikvision has consistently explored innovative solutions to address pressing social issues. Notably, the company has provided traffic management solutions in over 300 cities worldwide, improving traffic flow at more than 53,000 intersections.
In the field of industrial digitization, Hikvision collaborated with CHN Energy to develop a large-scale, non-destructive, bi-spectral technology for real-time coal quality analysis that surpasses traditional methods. Furthermore, through its STAR program, Hikvision uses technology to protect wildlife, the environment, and cultural heritage. As of 2024, the company has partnered with over 30 non-governmental organizations (NGOs). One of its remarkable projects includes enhancing fire safety measures at the historic Lanxi Bridge, built in 1574, and modernizing the monitoring system at South Africa's Kariega Game Reserve.
Enhancing Cybersecurity and Data Protection Reliability
Hikvision places a high priority on cybersecurity and data protection. This commitment is reflected in its prestigious certifications such as ISO 27017, ISO 27018, DCMM, and IEC 62443-4-1. In addition, the company emphasizes skill enhancement and training. In 2024, Hikvision launched 26 cybersecurity-themed courses and provided 171 training sessions, achieving 100% employee engagement. The company also supported the next generation of talents by organizing its first Hackathon at ISE 2025 in Barcelona.
Addressing Climate Change with Low-Carbon Strategies
Incorporating decarbonization strategies into its corporate policies, Hikvision is developing a carbon-neutral business model focused on low-carbon products, smart manufacturing, green operations, and digital transformation. Key milestones include verifying the carbon footprint of 103 Hikvision product models and achieving the world's first carbon footprint certification of a manufacturing process from Bureau Veritas. Additionally, 16 Hikvision LED displays received the Green Product Mark certification from TÜV Rheinland, making them the first in the LED display segment to earn this recognition.
Hikvision continues to be committed to sustainability, laying a solid foundation for stable operation and shared values. With the ongoing THRIVE initiative, the company strives towards a better future through innovative solutions and a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship.
