In recent news from the automotive world, Tedros Mengiste has officially been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Genesis Motor North America. This exciting development comes as the luxury automotive brand continues to gain momentum in a highly competitive market. Effective immediately, Mengiste will report to Randy Parker, the CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America, to oversee the strategy and execution of the company's sales, marketing, and customer engagement initiatives.

Tedros Mengiste's journey with Genesis began in March 2020, serving as the Executive Director of Sales Operations. Just two years later, he was elevated to Vice President of Sales Operations. Under his leadership, Genesis achieved historic sales figures, with the company recently announcing its best-ever annual sales achievement in the United States, surpassing 75,000 vehicles sold in a single year. This remarkable milestone reflects an 8% growth compared to the previous year, showcasing the brand's effective strategies and market penetration.

December proved to be a standout month for Genesis, breaking all records with an impressive 8,159 vehicles sold. Such statistics underscore the potential for continued growth as Mengiste steps into this new leadership role. His extensive experience is sure to play a key role in capitalizing on this momentum.

Prior to joining Genesis, Mengiste spent years honing his skills in various leadership positions within the automotive sector, including roles at Infiniti and Nissan Motor America. He boasts an impressive background that encompasses regional and national sales strategy, product marketing, and field operations. With a robust 28-year career in the industry, Mengiste is well-equipped to steer Genesis towards greater heights.

In addition to his sales accomplishments, Mengiste has been instrumental in expanding Genesis's retail network across the U.S., now exceeding 60 retail locations, with plans for continued expansion. He has prioritized enhancing the customer experience, emphasizing training and development for a burgeoning team of dedicated field operations personnel, which has tripled in size since 2020.

Mengiste's academic qualifications, including an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from Indiana University, further fortify his leadership capabilities in this dynamic industry.

On the organizational front, Claudia Márquez, the previous COO of Genesis Motor North America, has transitioned to a newly created leadership role at Hyundai Motor America. She will now focus on shaping the U.S. business operations and implementing customer-focused growth strategies for the Hyundai brand.

As Genesis Motor North America charts its course into the future, Mengiste’s leadership promises innovation and new model introductions. The brand, which emphasizes refined performance, cutting-edge design, and exceptional customer service, is continuously expanding its offerings, providing consumers with award-winning SUVs, sedans, and electric vehicles.

With over 200 independent retailers in the U.S., alongside 30+ Canadian distributors, Genesis Motor North America is poised for significant growth.
